Strange new commands, where are the steel bars???

    Ttile says it all, how am I supposed to make steel bars now? can I do that? where is the friggin option???

    In the alloy furnace, which you need the iron crafting table to make.

    Yes, you get an alloy furnace, and with Iron and Oil (found on the desert planet, use your matter manipulator liquid update), you can craft steel.
