I mark my landing site as well, usually with a torch or some kind of light.

Some of my habits (and some hints I'd give)

    EXPLORATION
    - When exploring systems, always start from the left to the right (regions and astros). This keeps me from returning to explore astros where I've been already.
    - I always explore the surface first and then go for underground mining/exploring. I usually go for villages, chests, mining, etc.
    - Place torches once in a while so you know you've been in that place. Other option is to make 3x3 holes on the ground, for the same purpose.
    - When I first beam down to a planet or moon I start by making a hole on the ground 3x3 wide, covered with a layer of ground blocks to avoid rain from removing them. I place one torch on the side I start going. For example: If I start going right, to explore the surface, I place a torch on the right side of that hole. If I die, when I beam down, I'll start exploring left. When the surface is fully explored, I'll just put a torch on both sides (left and right of the hole). I'll just place the center torch when I fully explore the astro and there is absolutely nothing else there for me to do.

    MOVEMENT
    - Bubble boost, always.
    - Bubble boost, no matter how strong the gravity is, can be used "forever" if you tap it instead of just keeping your finger pressed. You can access any astro's asteroid field by doing this.

    SCAN
    - Scan ALL items your find. ;)

    I throw bombs everywhere.

Oh btw blink is basically the best movement it's not really up for debate, when you get used to it you can almost fly or travel great distances instantly

Also green and purple dirt are probably the best markers, they're basically free and really stand out as long as you don't use the same color as the planet you're on.

    Being extremly carefull: Meteorites

Reading very carefull: Hidden details in some of the item descriptions which are fun in times.

Not expecting too much anymore: Loot chests with weapons being outperformed by what I have.

Not taking any risks at all anymore: Playing on permadeath mode.

Playing out people against eachother: Multiplayer RP servers. I like playing as a manipulative antagonist like character.

Taking cover when RP meets E: Dont need to explain this...

I have a graveyard on my homeworld for all the guards, NPCs, and pets who have died / lost the capture pod for. I don't know why, it's a complete waste of space and resources.

I imagine it would be useful, especially when talking to someone who has difficulty telling different emotions apart....I may be close to some one like that, I may have to try this.

My finger placements on the keyboard. i tried playing some other games and cringe as my fingers twist and turn.

i usually change the keyboard format,if the game permits it, to that of starbound's 'cause finger twisting is NO GOOD.

Well, a few weeks ago, I stumbled upon a small town that I happen by whilst on my way to school. I abruptly decided to kill every living thing in sight until there's nothing left. Then, I took the decorative stuff from their houses and crammed them into my printer so that I can produce more at a later date.

Unfortunately, I don't have my spaceship built yet... Anyone know someone who could help me construct one?
