Meteor showers is a good idea if it was a once in a blue moon rare event but 3 days in a row!! Really?? After the 3rd time watching the house I had spent ages rebuilding being destroyed a day later I actually rage quitted. To be honest the constant meteor showers is really putting me off this game. **UPDATE** The next planet I went to seemed peaceful, there was even a friendly village close by. So I built a house and below I carefully excavated, even adding a swimming pool. Above that I had created farmland and planted loads of seeds. 2 hours or more I had spent creating my base/home. I sent my little dude to bed and 5 seconds later a meteor the size of a house destroyed everything......... ??? @%$# you %£@#&%#, eat my @#%& you @$%#^$£ Why did Chucklefish give you the ability to build stuff if they are just gonna destroy it? It's like your dad buying you lego, waiting for you to build a 2 story house and then stamping on it. Ok Chucklefish I won't bother building anymore, I'll just run around mining and killing things, thanks for taking most of the fun I had away.
And no need to make another thread about when a lot exist already http://community.playstarbound.com/...5/&q=meteor&o=date&c[title_only]=1&c[node]=27
Protip: Look for craters in the background. Lots of small craters = Regular meteor shower, and one MASSIVE crater = Bigass meteors. No craters = No meteors, generally
I don't feel sorry for you. Your complaining that you had a challenge in the game that "Stole" your gameplay. Most of this game is over coming a challenge weather (Misspelled) it's fighting a boss or (in your case) over coming a problem like Acid, Metors, Acid rain (Never saw but heard of), really that's what most of the game is about, survival. Here's a suggestion. Renforce your walls with 5-7 block walls of cobblestone brick. That will stop it from breaching without having 4 metors in the same place at one time. The only true problem I have is when I chop wood and one comes down. But That doesn't bug me because it destories the trees and gets me wood and most the time I'm at that planet it's for fuel and I don't have many pixels.
There is *INSERT ABSURDLY MASSIVE AMOUNT HERE* of these threads. Use search next time. The devs are probably changing this, just by looking all of the complaints. I've heard that the chance of meteors was increased in Furious Koala for testing to find the optimal amount meteor showers. Best advice I can give is to seek a planet without meteor showers. There is probably coordinates for those somewhere, if you don't want to do the searching yourself. Also, if you have gear to survive in moons/asteroid belts, build to asteroid belts for extreme safety; no meteor showers there. The background has no relation to meteor showers. Neither do the possible nearby asteroid fields. Backgrounds are purely aesthetic.
Oh, I thought it did because every planet I've been on long enough with craters in the background had meteors.
Wow people are rude on this forum. If you have a problem with duplicate threads DON'T READ THE THREAD. Or are you a troll that just clicks on duplicate threads because you want to show how big and clever you are? Chill out or don't click on the thread.
"I don't feel sorry for you" I don't care. A house sized meteor destroying everything you just spent 2 hours creating is not a challenge mate. Your advice is to make walls 7 tiles thick? Umm no thanks. No I did not say it stole my gameplay as I still play the game. I said it stole the fun I was having in the game and unless in the 30 years I have been playing games I have missed the whole point , having fun IS the point. Sounds to me like you play the game differently to the way I want to play, sorry about that.
@Ramus, posting duplicate threads is a thing you should try to avoid as it is considered spam(useless thread) under the forum rules Also double posting is also something you should try to avoid, if you want to add something to what you've already said in a thread, and nobody else has posted after you yet, it's better to use the edit button. These things are considered to be common curtesy so as not to clutter the forum, and threads.
Actually it says nothing about making a thread already discussed in the rules, double posts yes but that is not the same thing. If I want to start a discussion that is my right and the only person who can change that is a moderator, I see no moderators wagging their fingers at me here, just some people with a sanctimonious attitude. I was not adding something to something I already said I was replying to 2 separate comments, I had just deleted the quote section to save space. Never before have I been jumped on quite so ferociously in a forum and only 1 person came here to talk about my experience in the game, everyone else seems to want get on a high horse and wag their finger at me. Leave the moderating to the moderators please.
Welcome to the starbound forums unfor. tho lots of people on high horses trying to whiteknight across the board.
@Ramus I think you don´t know how games work. Survival games = Challenge to survive = fun to some people. These challenges"are fun to people. Each person has a different opion on what kinda games they like. A metor is just another challenge. And even so most of this thread is you complaining. Also don´t you think you could of rebuilt your house in all the time it took you to read and type this thread? And also my character did the same thing. Went to bed 5 seconds later dead.
Sorry but i like the meteor showers.. and i like the frequency that i see them now. You're trying to build a civ on a planet thats uninhabitable to and logical thinker.. Try building in the grasslands, you will only have to deal with rain
sry this is wrong a meteor is not a challenge its a broken non challanging "deal with it" feature. you can not prepare yourself for it, sicne it appears on top of the screen. You could beam down to your planet, and get instant striked by one, without having any chance to react. Its like tellign a baby not getting the lolly stolen by a 30yo old guy is a "challenge". This Forum feels like peace and love after beeing over a year there New Sorry but i like the meteor showers.. and i like the frequency that i see them now. You're trying to build a civ on a planet thats uninhabitable to and logical thinker.. Try building in the grasslands, you will only have to deal with rain grassland can also have meteor showers, the problem is you have 0 indication if a planet does hae it or not until it happened. And thats what sucks, because normally none of this planets would develop jungle, grass or forrest biomes at all with thsi frequency of meteors they have. it makes no sense and is just annoying people. When was the last emteorstrike here on earth kaking a 50m big hole?
I did the graphics for a Net Yaroze FPS cover disk game when I worked for SCEE. Have done an Alien Breed clone back in the early 90s. By myself I have recently written a cross between Elite and Asteroids.... but in answer to your question, no not really lol. Currently working on a Rogue style space game (without perma death)...
