StilleBound - Which path would you take?

light weight server? Run it on linux? with 1gb ram you should beable to handle maybe..... 15-20 players. At least in my stress testing environment on a win7 os. Never thought of running it on a single/dual core netbook. Have some old ones stashed away at 1.77ghz dual core i3 netbooks. Think those would work for make shift servers?

 

this can barely run the game let a lone a server for it. from my experiences with it on my desktop which is pretty beefy, it needs a lot of resources to run smoothly.Currently running it on centos 6 64 bit and with 35 people on takes 3 gigs of RAM up.

 

Amazing, just 3gigs? woah, you have alota world threads open? or no? In my test it was with 7 world threads open at same time. Running win7 64bit with 15-20. Most i seen at one point was 191 people for a very short period of time, which ate up 15.7gb of ram, with only 3 worlds open. System processes were 171 though.. i think tons of handles for the worlds(?)

nah, I thought that too when I joined and it errored. just keep trying and be patient.. you'll be rewarded

 

It's probably because of a number things
If I had to guess...
1. Minecraft is fairly old, and server software for it is relatively stable.
2. Minecraft is more efficient with resources and less prone to crashing.
3. Minecraft gives you more control over the server.
Starbound has none of these things.

 

I mean you could buy a mine craft server and then install a starbound server instead of keeping the mc server. I guess people will pay that much more for convenience

 

Fixed a few more bugs and brought the server back up!

 

Can you add grenade or rocket launchers?

 

I already have them added, check the ship's storage

If they're custom weapons, they won't work but if they're modded original guns pm me a link and I'll look at them!
