Still No Key Rebinding?

The game is promoted and labeled as being in beta, so it doesn't matter how far the game "seems" to be in development. Even if was in alpha, I would still fully expect it to have key remapping, but especially in a beta, there's no excuse.

You're right. I wasn't buying "early access" to an "extremely playable" game with my money, I was buying a game I could play at some future point. Oh wait, that's entirely wrong. I'm sure I don't need to explain to you that money appreciates (however little in this case) while what I bought does not.
Regardless, as I said, I know the patch is coming. I'm not sure why you continue to speak seemingly on behalf of the developers.

I agree I made an assumption, but it was based on past experience with many games. I bought a game knowing what the developers say on the Steam page, which is that it is "extremely playable and contains a vast amount of content." I doubt they started collecting $15 a pop merely because of pressure from the community. Even if that motivation were true, they released it not as a public beta per se ( which are free), but as a paid early access beta. There's a massive difference, and it comes with a difference in expectation.

The price you paid was for the entire game. You were not overcharged for the content you're currently playing, because what you're playing is not the finished game. That is what I pointed out. What you got for the money you paid will only be evident once the game is actually done.

This does not in any way excuse the lack of the key binding feature, but seeing how it's in development right now, perhaps you ought to exercise some patience instead of not to subtly calling the game (That's not finished) a rip-off?

I don't think it's a rip-off to most people. To be fair, most people are able to play with the default controls. But to me, my subjective experience has been only negative, and certainly has not been worth my money. I think the game will be great, otherwise I wouldn't care, and I know that this one fix will make it entirely playable for me.
I will happily stop posting here and just wait once I stop having to defend my initial position to you. Look, this page lists keybinding as an upcoming feature back in mid-December. As of Jan 28, (a month and a half later) the official twitter account posted to say they're working on it, which should provide solace, but the poster went on to say "that's not to say it's going to be in TODAY, but it is actively being worked on." The more vocal the community is about the feature, the more they'll prioritize getting it done. There's value in being vocal, especially when there are more of you (people who can already enjoy the content) than us (people who can't until this gets done).

Yeah, I can see that. I just think it's redundant to bring the price into it. I can definitely sympathize with your frustration though. But yeah, not much to do but wait and occasionally poke the developers asking for updates.

I have never found it hard to adapt to any games... I hardly change key bindings...

me neither, but that wasn't really the point. I'm left-handed, too. It doesn't matter though. It's being taken care of.

I literally just got the game. I've gone and found the tweet you mentioned. I'm glad it's coming, but keybinding should have been in there before they sold it the way they did on Steam.

Maybe use your pinky on the space bar? I'm trying it out now (and using my left hand for mouse control), and it really isn't too bad at all.

    Key rebinding should
    1. Not be hard to implement.
    2. Be out in any game on release, whether beta or full
    3. BE LEGALLY REQUIRED IN ALL GAMES EVER

okay maybe not 3, but you guys get it

Honestly, that wouldn't be a bad idea.

It's all about being inclusive, user friendly and flexible. It would be good if such a thing was an industry standard, even if not legally mandated (Who the hell would enforce such a thing anyway?).

And before anyone starts yelling at me, this isn't a complaint directed at Chucklefish.

I honestly believe that EVERY game ever made would be better with mappable controls.

    It's coming, it's coming!

There's a secret rule to game development. Every time you take a task and make a time estimate double that time estimate. Then quadruple it. Then if need be just keep multiplying it.
Games and their individual game functions that make it in time are almost certainly rushed. Fear the day when your games update perfectly on time, always promptly and exactly when you want them to! For that is when video games will have died...

If you do not mind me asking, how deeply embedded into the code are the controls and how high on the priority list is it to add options to change it?
