Still Checking Every Day

Who else still fires up their web browser and the first thing they do is click on Starbound in the favorites bar, just to check if the next update is up? Even if they switched to weekly updates, I think it was unclear when the next update would actually be. If the last one was for the 6th, does that mean I should just wait till the 13th? Or does this mean we should expect something like every Tuesday henceforth? Or what if they aren't even going to have predictable updates and it will just be more-or-less a week, like one update every 5-10 days or so?

I love the random monster every Friday. Maybe the developers should just decide on an actual update day so that we can all rely on when the update will go up and not feel this uncertainty, this compulsion to check every day. Maybe it's just ingrained into my routine after over a year of checking Starbound every day. Maybe so-called "toaster ovens" are actually just toasters that wish they were ovens. I don't know.

So I ask you, do YOU check Starbound every day? How often do you check the main page? How often do you browse the forums? Why don't you do so more or less often? Will these habits still last a while after the Beta begins? Let me know what you think.

 

I've been on the forums more often then I actually check the main home page honestly. Mostly because I enjoy the community here.

Though I agree it would be nice if they picked a day to do updates on, I'm not too incredibly picky. Consistency is a nice thing. It's enough for me to know they're working on the game. If someone showed up once a week just to say "We're working on the thing." I'd be happy. I understand the craving for more information though.

Prior to joining the forums I actually just let my room mates keep me up to date, as they both seem to check for updates somewhat religiously. Checked into things myself pretty sparingly.

 

Every time I start my computer, I head to playstarbound.com and community.playstarbound.com. It's just become a habit.

I always have the forums open and am always browsing them.

I check the main every hour or so.

 

All day a read this forum

 

Frankly, I've stopped focusing on Starbound. The only reason I am still active here is due to the community.

 

Every morning, I wake up, bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch in hand, best "HrMMMGHGH COME ONNNN, COME OOOOON!" face on, and fire up Firefox. (huhuhrugetit)

Then again though, I like this forum; the mods are polite, unlike on many other sites, and the community is decent.

 

I'm a man of lists.

Almost every day, much less recently.

Since the implementation of the system that archives the blog posts to the News Section I only go there to actually read the full post.

When I get on I always check the New Posts list just to see if anyone is talking about anything interesting.

I won't say it's because of the stagnation of the general discussion or the amount of samey feeling topics and arguments cropping up, but I won't dismiss it entirely either. Besides there's plenty of other things to do.

My activity will more than likely decrease. Once the game becomes available I'll probably spend my Starbound Time actually playing it. Not to say I won't return for the old discussion and bug reporting when I can. Dodging spoilers is my biggest concern.

 

Nope, since I never close the IRC I get a full log of any new information saved, including the obligatory "NEW UPDATE POST GUISE" messages.

Also I don't care for the updates anyways...

 

I had to disable my like alerts ages ago.

 

I still check the main page every night around 11p EST, maybe even a few times more at later hours if I'm not busying myself with something else. I'm never disappointed when there's no new post, but I don't get super-giddy and fly off the handle when there is a new post (BESIDES the "Beta Coming Soon" post ;P). I'm now so used to this concept of seeing the progress of games getting developed that I don't feel like it's a good use of energy obsessing over.

"Will the game be out soon? No? Oh well, better luck tomorrow or next week/month/year."

are pretty much the two speeds I'll run at, tops.

 

I don't click on the forum in my bookmarks. This website is set as my homepage!

 

I DO THIS EVERY DAY, besides nothing to do during the MLP and Doctor Who hiatus

 

I fire up Starbound more then once a day, if I'm not working. Mostly between games, or between episodes of whatever I'm watching, I don't really care about the updates etc, I'm just waiting for Beta to drop at this point, every once in awhile I'll go on a small posting spree and actually reply to threads, most of the time I just lurk silently watching.

 

I always keep one starbound tab open in my browser.

 

If a beta is close.. Ofcourse i gonna check every update possible each day!
Its not the only reason though i visit here. i also like the open minded community here.

 

I feel like half of you are saying "No, you're crazy" and the other half are saying "Fuck yeah! Aren't we all?"

I don't need to go to the website to check for the news. I have configured my mobile phone to notify me of any new blog post (Thanks to RSSDemon). And whenever my phone is silenced, I only have to light the screen to see if there is the RSSDemon icon in the status bar.

 

I never check the main page for news updates since I have the Starbound Codex app on my Android phone that notifies me when there's news. Even without the app, I'm not obsessive so I wouldn't check it often. Maybe every other day, but I'd usually just forget or not care. I check the forums about twice a day mainly to see if I have notifications or if a new interesting thread has popped up.
