I am sure this must have been asked at some point or another, but I don't think I've seen it answered or asked myself yet.

Basically wondering if there will be a steam workshop for Starbound, since I know they're working hard to make this game really moddable. I'd really like that as I find the workshop to be very very convenient and makes it amazingly easy to put mods into games. If it's already been asked or is in the wrong spot or whatever you can move it I guess?

People have brought it up before. It's entirely possible, and I hope the devs add support for it at some point. It makes sharing, accessing and rating mods much easier.

I do believe Tiy said they will be taking advantage of as many steam features as they could. So, it'll probably happen.

With so much mod support would be odd if it was not integrated.

It could but since you can download mods from servers(I'm pretty sure) . I don't think it's a priority.

I believe what you may be referring to is the ability to not install server mods when logging onto a server. Unfortunately, that only means the mod will work on that server. For single player mods, you need to download them, as well as installing them from other sources.

Well nevermind then. Starro looked like a cool guy from the wiki anyhow.

I'd love for starbound to have access to the steam workshop, would make things so much easier.

We will most likely have a steam mod shop.... later on, post-release. It's not a big deal though; we have hands and our brain(s), and we should be able to install a mod if instructions were provided.

Well, its not as easy as that for some. Many of my peers (Including myself) follow install directions to the letter and the mods never work. We look up countless tutorials on how to install a simple drag and drop mod. It becomes ridiculous and we end up finding outside help. It really depends upon what type of computer you have and how your directories are arranged.

Sorry if sounds really hostile, by the way.:)

Nah, its cool. I'm no computer whiz, and I've had my share fair of difficult mods to install. It works out in the end though, if you keep trying.

This will happen, and it will be marvelous

although I don't mind downloading mods directly from the community
and dragging the files in a mod folder

It's understandable. Tiy has said numerous times though that their goal is to make modding extremely simple, so hopefully that translates to the "manual" process of modding (ie. outside Steam Workshop) to being a no-brainer.

That said, computers are known the world over for throwing a curveball on what should be a relatively simple task. So there's bound to be a few issues. That's why we all have to work to keep the community strong, and committed to helping one another once the game launches. ;)
