Steam Greenlight - Why isn't Starbound on yet?

I've been looking around on Greenlight for a while now, and some games are rather far away from being done and are pretty incomplete, yet they're on Greenlight. Yet Starbound has a good following and is further along than many of the games on GL (presumably) but isn't listed at all. Why is that? Do the devs just want the game to be more complete, or is it perhaps that they have not decided or intended to be on Steam? I think it's pretty obvious that SB would pass with flying colors.

(I apologize if this is somehow a taboo subject, I didn't think it would be, but who knows)

Starbound is too cool for greenlight.

Haha, Steam no likey! Hmm, sounds legit. I've heard or seen it mentioned that "Starbound doesn't need help getting onto Steam" - perhaps I've not totally grasped what GL is, then, and that it really is for very unknown and small games that have relatively little popularity. Is that it?

Edit: had to fix "Starbound doesn't need help getting onto Greenlight" to "onto Steam"... That's what I meant.

yeah there are some really good games that were on there like bleed and also towns but i think starbound is too good for it.

Yeah, for the REALLY small games, which have potential, if the users like it.

You liked Towns? Aw man, that game. I tried, I really tried to like that game but it's the most unpolished and incomplete feeling game I've ever played, and I really don't think it was ready to be released and yeah... I don't want to get derail my own topic I created too much haha.

So it's no wonder that I rarely know a game's name on GL. But if this was how it worked, why are games like Black Mesa (basically an fan-made HD remake of Half-Life) and Yogventures (from the ever-popular Yogscast) appearing on there? And perhaps even Gnomoria, since that game seems decently popular with the kiddies.

Heard that Starbound will be accepted with no problem on Steam, hence no Greenlight.

I think Starbound is too good for Greenlight, it already has a big community and grabs attention to potential and great success as a Indie game... So I'm guessing it will either go straight as a (Pre-Order *Beta Bonus*) after the developers have mixed and mashed and polished the game for a while, or just straight to (Here you go! Buy Starbound today! 10% discount!) when the game is ready for a full release.

That's just what I see happening though, and then with either choice I think it will be a great success and become known all around the world and become the best Indie game of the year.

Yeah the store page on Steam does not make it clear at all that Towns is basically in alpha right now. It's very far from completion but rather than saying "alpha" they just tell you it's being "continually developed."

I know it's been mentioned before with the popularity of Starbound, it shouldn't have any trouble getting onto Steam through normal channels. I think some of the more popular games go on Greenlight to get more exposure before release and simply because it's easier than trying to contact Valve directly.

Even after Greenlight being released, Steam still makes their own screenings when inquired to release a game on their platform. It it passes, then it gets released directly, if it doesnt, you can still put it on Greenlight and hope it gets voted.

Stabound would clearly pass the screening, so they don't need to Greenlight it.

I can see starbound passing the greenlight all together, due to the community and how it is already being polished.
