    I think it would be a good idea as long as the items you get for the badge are good. There's been so many games where I've gone ahead and crafted the badge because I thought the profile background it gave would be cool and it ended up looking lame. Been using Chivalry: Medieval Warfare's background for a long time now. Plus a little penguin emote to use in chats would be funny.

    Yes, Steam trading cards would be awesome. A USCM avatar or a Starbound wallpaper would be pretty awesome.
