Starting is incredibly slow, combat is frustrating.

A little bit of feedback on the new systems.

    Health V.S. Armor Penetration.
The issue here is simple, Weapons feel under powered now. I felt a static damage made sense on things like swords, cutting a person is cutting them, but you have to have a sharper weapon to get through thicker hides. Now I feel like every weapon is a blunt object and I'm just smacking it against a rock. It feels clunky and slow.
Shields, what do they even do now? I had a tier 2 shield, before the wipe, that was able to stop incoming damage if I could keep whatever I was fighting on the other side of it. Now I just get hit, but for like 2 less damage? I can't tell, damage feels pretty sporadic to begin with.

    Progression.
Is this a thing? It's hard to tell. :c It's frustrating to upgrade armor and continue taking the same damage. I have five more health instead. Compared against the 14-16 damage attacks I'm still fried the moment I think of adventuring. Before I could upgrade my armor and jump to a planet that was two levels higher. Yes, the creatures there became trivial, but it made sense in the scheme of progression.

    Birds.
What the hell is up with these things? I spent a while trying to overcome a UNSC prison, only to watch a dragon cow fly down and decimate the entire thing. He cleared an entire wing of the prison, a wing that would have taken me at least ten minutes to clear. It gets ridiculous, when I'm trying to duck away from a blood spewing cat dragon hawk that happened to notice me from it's advantage point in the bloody stratosphere and somehow end up stuck in a corner in a cave that it managed to navigate it's way into to destroy me.

    Ore.
Common ores are too rare, rare ores are too common. I've already got a golden pickax, but am struggling to make my second set of armor. I've got no idea where all this ore is coming from, but I miss my plain Iron and coal.

I am also curious what is going on with shields. Were they always only supposed to block a small portion of the damage and were bugged back then and fixed now, or are they still supposed to be blocking full damage if the shield is the appropriate level, and it's bugged now? It's really not worth using a shield now. I either use a 2H or dual wield 1H.

I love the birds though. I got so used to ignoring them, and now they keep me on my toes :)

Bird AI is a lot better but could still use some tweaking. As for armor and shields, I haven't had a chance to try out shields yet, but armor pretty much blows now.

There is tons of ore, I believe you aren't looking hard enough. Just in the first planet I had several hundreds of copper / iron / silver / gold. Previous to the patch, there was none to be found, now there is too much of everything. I think right in between is perfect. Personally the last thing I want to do is craft t10 armor in a few days and be done with that part of the game. I sincerely hope they reconsider the progression of armor. I know some will hate that idea due to being casuals (sorry, but true). I just don't want to be looking for another game because I've got everything due to a select few complaining about difficulty.

to be honest the ore-progression is just lazy once you enter the last sector. you have all the ore but cant use them. or is also blocking each others spawns.
just lazy. but hey they prolly widen it until thread 10 planets (previous thread 91-100)

The problem is that each planet's ore selection is random. For example, on my last planet I was swimming in coal. On my current one I scoured the entire planet's surface and found four measly little pieces. If you're not finding any copper you might just need to go somewhere else.

You pretty much summed up every problem I have with this update. For me the combat changes make it feel a lot slower and sluggish to the point where it's no longer fun for me. While the armor pen system wasn't great and I'm glad they're reworking it, the balance it had was actually fairly fun overall and I'm hoping they tweak the current values to achieve something similar.

But that +2 dps when you craft your first weapon is so noticeable when you go from taking 5 hits to kill things to... well.. 5 hits to kill most things....

After four planets worth of exploring since restarting my character after the hotfix, I have found a total of 40 copper bars, 190+ gold bars, 240 iron bars, and 120 silver bars.

Sure, it's nice to have all that gold and silver, but I literally cannot do anything with it without the copper to craft the base sets, and I can hardly find any copper at all.

There's something up with the ore deposits, and it's not good, especially if you're just starting off and you NEED that low level ore. You can get all the gold in the world at that point but it's all useless to you if you don't have the copper to start with.

The upgrading armor system has been removed. You no longer need copper armor to craft silver, etc. (Although you do still need copper to craft iron, silver to craft steel, etc.)

See. I think the ore gen is messed though, this patch. Because I am struggling to find coal or iron. I went digging for ores, I came up with 70 iron ore and about 217 silver ore, then a bunch of gold and diamonds. So while there IS tons of ore, it's the WRONG kind of ore. As for the armor progression, it is a bit too easy now, though at the same time, that's partly because of how easy rare ores are to find. Usually you get slowed down by having to find enough silver, nope, I had enough the first time I got back from digging.

True, but you do need to defeat the penguin and get the starmap upgrade to see the silver armor in the list of the metalworking station.
