Closed Started with 19 Perfectly Generic Items

Why? I do not know. Opened my inventory and found them after going through the new introduction through the Protectorate mission thanks to TanzNukeTerror's Nightly Fix mod.

 

Was the TanzNukeTerror's Nightly Fix the only mod you had? Tested just 1-15 minutes prior to posting this, and got no PGI(s) from the "Protectorate Mission."

 

Certainly not my only mod, but I have no mods which add items to the starting inventory. The majority are completely cosmetic in nature, changing sprites. I also had Xbawks, Compact Crops, and Extra Zoom Levels installed,

 

Start a new character, do the protectorate stuff, and the moment you get the PGIs, close the game and post the log. It might be a mod issue, since a fresh character I just made using only a nightly fix didn't get these PGIs.

 

Started off with 10 PGIs upon loading character into Protectorate mission.

That's a lot of missing empty<slot> items, but that's before the character is loaded. How strange.

As tedious as it may sound, try moving one mod out at a time and rushing through the mission each time. I mean, if you're getting PGIs, it's got to be some kind of error loading an actual item, but for some reason the log won't say why.

 

I think... I have isolated the issue.

It is related to the un-instantiated errors. It seems to be a strange error where having an invalid item as a clothing option during character creation causes a PGI to generate in the characters inventory during character creation. I tested my hypothesis by hitting the random button numerous times while on character creation, then counting the number of PGIs in the character inventory afterwards.

So, it is in a way a mod and vanilla issue. It seems to be how the vanilla game handles bad item references during character creation, which can be exasperated by a mod that adds a non-existent item to clothing choices. It just means that, for now, I need to add another mod which re-adds the old "empty" set so the references are valid. That is okay in this case because I was going to resolve that issue regardless.
