Outdated Starstructor, the Starbound toolset 0.7.5145.12730

    I cannot for the life of me figure out how to add a new layer, or part, the option is grayed out no matter what I do. The new part tool is grayed out as well.

    It's probably just my lack of understanding of the coding language, but I have been having an issue with the main Boosterflame not showing up in the game, but only with certain ships I've made. I understand the concept of surrounding the booster flame by the blue blocks, but it doesnt always work. Is there any suggestion you can give me to help set up the engine flame correctly each time?

    I have noticed that the collision area for the booster flames is a bit larger than it seems, turn on view collision and if you see any squares around the booster flames that have green in them, that means that it would be blocked by those squares, if you don't fix it the boosters will simply not show up.

    Yeah that is a good point. I was able to fix the problem, but it just took me erasing what i had put down, then re-confirming the assets location, and even though i linked that to the same place, suddenly its working.

    I don't know, i really don't.

    Does anyone know why all the 'Assets' folders (and all the other ones, too) in the Starbound SteamApps directory don't show up. All of the folders where I'm guessing the dungeons and ship files should be are empty, and I can't find any good tutorials on how to use it thoroughly (I found a single one, except I can't read Italian). I'm using Beta Furious Koala and running Windows 8.1, are there any known issues for this OS?

    You need to unpack Starbound's assets to edit them.

    Kei, thanks for making such a great mod!

    I was wondering if you had come across anyone who solved the "boosterflame" animation problem. It looks like since the FK patch "engineOnOrientations" in the .obeject file can only refrence the boosterflame.frames file, rather than boosterflameon.frames. I know its a bug with the new patch, just wondering if youve seen anyone come up with a creative workaround.

    Great tool, thanks for creating and sharing.

    A few ideas/suggestions:

    *Painting larger brushes (e.g.: select a brush to paint then a slider that increases the size to lets say 4x4 or 8x8 so we can paint faster).
    *Background images. Allowing us to set a background would definitely help with get some architecture just right (like curves and stuff).

    I'm sorry, I haven't encountered this error before. I'd suggest asking in ##starbound-modding on irc.freenode.net. They might know more.

    You will need to post more information, such as what error you are receiving, and perhaps attach a log file too.

    I'm glad you find Starstructor useful. Both of your suggestions are things I definitely want to implement. For now I'm in the middle of rewriting the editor in C++ (this will accommodate linux and mac support, and allow me to emulate more advanced graphical features such as lighting), so the next update will be quite a while away. Once I have ported the current functionality, I want to focus on opening existing .world / .shipworld files and editing them. After that I will start adding more tools - such as variable brush size, copy/paste, fill tool, and a more rebust undo / redo system.

    Will this mean that it would be possible for the program to emulate placing blocks as well, instead of showing just the first block? That would be awesome :)

    Well... it's purely cosmetic :p

    Let's say I use the temple block, which has 25 variants, Starstructor only shows the first of the 25 (always the first in line).

    Would be nice if it randomised the tile, every time you placed one, as it would make it look more like what it is going to look like in-game (with added random element, but you get the picture no?) :D

    Oh, I understand. :) Yeah implementing the randomised variants is actually a really simple thing to do, it's just been a really low priority so far.

    So I have assets unpacked, and the directory is set to starbound\assets where there is a folder called unpacked in there that has all the unpacked stuff...
    Problem is that it still only loads the mod assets and none of the default ones. Not sure why :(

    cant find any files that have ship or dungeon files in them even after extracting the packed file
