If it helps, I found a mod that will replace the mushroom sprites at all stages with actual mushrooms. Fair warning though, I'm pretty sure it's the one that makes my ice crystals look funny. I haven't seen it in action yet, so I can't say for sure how well it works but I'm hoping if a mushroom does appear on my farm, I'll be able to see it. http://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/338/?
I have $15 for the giant mushroom tree, $15...You won't get a great deal like this normally, folks! Haley and Shane are the two that irritate me the most, followed closely by Alex with his jock mentality. Yes they all warm up once you get to know them, but Haley ignoring you because she thinks you are beneath her (does *Haley is ignoring you* count as talking to her?), Shane's attitude when you first meet him, and Alex being *jock talk and pretty much nothing else* at first make them harder to like. Not impossible by any means, just harder. Would you want to make friends with someone who ignores you??
It's clearly a case of the game designer pushing the player's buttons. We all know that Haley, Shane, and Alex are fictional characters, and therefore have been designed by CA to be as annoying as possible in different ways. Many other characters in the game have bad traits when you first meet them: Pierre's greed, Sebastion's stand-offishness, Pam's vulgarity, George's bitterness. All of them have something deeper inside. When I gain George's trust and he confides in me a personal story about his past, or Pam mentions her regrets about making things hard for Penny, or Shane tosses me a beer on a dock one night after work, it's like clearing your farm of the weeds and rocks-- you've made a smooth place for a fresh start. Objectively, even Morris would have something more to him than slavish devotion to Joja, if CA gave you the opportunity to draw him out in-game. Haley's antics are intended to get under your skin. If they work, then, that just shows CA did his job properly, eh?
I'm having trouble with my mushrooms. They have been spreading to the outer limits for roughly about 6 years now. Tried hoiking up there to remove them, it worked until the game crashed though. It used to bug me that a mushroom grew underneath the pink tree. Now it's a feature I guess of my farm. Who else can claim they have a levitating tree?
Alas, I could do the same, once. In that case it was a maple tree that sprouted on the far southern cliff of the farm near the exit path. It was graphically glitched for months, until a second maple grew next to it and somehow that fixed the first one. Drove me nuts to see it flickering and hovering there every time I went out the south exit of the farm, so I'm really glad it fixed itself eventually. I don't think the game engine knows quite how to deal with trees-- or mushrooms-- that grow on the inaccessible cliff areas around your farm.
That reminds me of my cave tree. I had a sapling spawn right in the opening to the cave on the farm. This was before Demetrius had set up the cave for anything, so I decided to let it be and see if it grew. It did xD
What gets me is these trees are all growing in weird places but try to get one to the immediate right of Grandpa's shrine and OH NO THAT SPOT ISNT GOOD ENOUGH I REFUSE TO GROW. I almost want to enlist someone to edit the farm map to already have a tree there so my need for symmetry will be met.
The sound of walking on gravel path. My teeth hurt when I hear it. And what make it worse is that it is tied to the "Sound Volume" slider instead of the "Footstep Volume" in the options zzz
What everyone has said here.. plus that noise when you try milking your animal and it has no milk, i cringe every time. Oddly enough, that's the same noise when you're fishing and you're tapping the left mouse button, just sounds so painful when you're trying to milk your cow and all you hear is that squeak *shudders*
That personally doesn't bother me, but I've seen a youtuber with the same pet peeve. He doesn't play with a facecam, but you can practically hear him squirm in his chair when it happens, it's so funny
Sameee. If I accidentally have my milk pail equipped and click on something, AWFUL SQUEAK, "your ducks don't produce milk" WELL NO SHIET.
That's funny... Shane's gruffness and avoidance is what drew me to him the most. It's relatable for me, though I could see how it would be irritating to others.
I know what you mean. I've got a chest that stores only gold star items to collect, but as for my food ingredients I have a chest for fish, a chest for the oven, a chest for the kegs, and a chest for the preserve jars, my fridge is stocked with eggs, milk, cheese, and staples from pierres...I have to pre-plan cooking and collect the ingredients from the chests, it's annoying & takes up time so I ended up just making several of each thing I could and I have yet another chest just for cooked food. So. Many. Chests.
Gold Kitty Statue in the desert casino. You get this thing and its all "oh hey I give you a nice thing everyday including a guaranteed loved item for the villager if its their birthday". Course the thing is by the time I ever get it, I'm so far into the game I can't give a portion of the town presents anymore lest I invoke spouse jealousy.
NPC damage: Yesterday I was playing and I saw a sweet pea on the ground next to George and Evelyn's house...just seconds before George came out on his way to church and rolled over it with his wheelchair, completely destroying it before I could get anywhere close to pick it up. I'm pretty sure I saw him grin when he did it too. I dunno if I'd necessarily call this a pet peeve of mine, but it was funny and I wanted to put it somewhere on the forum without starting a brand new thread. >u<
I've had that happen to me before too. Saw Maru kick a sweet pea out of her way seconds before I could pick it up xD I just laughed at it, first and only time I've seen that happen. It was hilarious.
I love this game to pieces but I do have some pet peeves and possible solutions: -Cluttered Chests: I use Chests alot to store my various stuff. one Chest for Fishing related goods, one for organic material (Sap, Grass bat Wings etc) one for seeds etc etc. Best way to fix this. Give Chests titles that you can hover over and know which one is which. -Tilled soil go away between seasons: I often try to till soil the day before the season switches over but then the majority of the soil is washed away. It sucks but I cannot think of a solution. -Fridge Space: I like to cook, but we need more Fridge space. Please more fridge space
I've seen some people suggest planting a throwaway crop the night before the season switches over - the crops will die but the soil stays intact and all you have to do is scythe away the dead stuff (which takes no energy). This is probably a better strategy for those who are further along though and have the money to flush away.
