Stardew Valley Multiplayer Beta: Known Issues & Fixes

    Hello.
    I have an issue : every time I want to buy the catalogue, the furniture catalogue, or just any random wallpaper, my game crashes and shuts down.
    I then have to open the game, load my character and start the day all over again. I tried this even without the beta, but the result is the same, and it wasn't there when I didn't have the beta.
    Everything else seems to work just fine, and when I went to buy it I had way enough money.

    I tried this with another character. Not enough for the catalogue, but still I clicked. No problem so far, it just indicates me I can't afford it.
    Then I clicked on a wallpaper and the game shut down once again.
    I tried this at Pierre's, and Jojo Mart.

    I haven't find a solution for this yet.

      It feels like this version (1.3.12) is the buggiest so far.

      1. Farmhand wasn't there for when we completed the community center. On Wednesdays, Pierre's shop is closed for her, but open to both the host and I (who were there for the completion)
      2. Every time we go to sleep, the player counter for people in bed goes up to (3/3) but doesn't continue to the next day. Instead, we just sit around in bed until the time hits 2:00 a.m. and we pass out. The second time this happened, my screen went to black and I couldn't move/type/do anything. Could still hear the fireplace crackling in the background though. I had to alt+f4 my way outta there.

      3. Incredibly long loading screens, be it into different parts of the map (town into forest, farm into path into town, etc.) , or even into/out of farm buildings.
      4. Attacking players who are already 'sleeping' will cause them to be knocked out of sleep, and back into the 'Go to sleep for the night? >Yes >No' screen.
      5. When I hug my spouse (Haley), she just stands there and does not hug my character back. I can also only get the heart (when hugging) to appear once a play session. Otherwise, it's just a regular 'hug'. After a while, I find that I'm no longer able to even hug her.
      6. Whenever I buy an animal from Marnie, all the doors in her house disappear and are not interact-able. The first time this happened, I left the ranch and went back in, and promptly black-screened. I had to alt+f4 out, so the game didn't consider it a crash and produce a crash report for it.

        I've had the animal zapping back to their original tiles too, as well as the super long loading screens!

          Getting a rather particular crash in multiplayer. Originally was running mods, but have been able to reproduce this error in a fully vanilla version of the game, with the posted crash log from that:
          -Host activates Abigail's 2-heart event
          -Host sells massive amount of crops for large influx of monetary gain (large strawberry harvest in Spring of first year)
          -Host buys 2nd backpack upgrade
          -2nd player buys 2nd backpack upgrade
          -2nd player buys Stardrop from Krobus

          Upon both players sleeping, the game will crash before saving and proceeding to the next day. We'll need to do more testing in vanilla, but at least while running under SMAPI, if any of those conditions were not met, the game would save without issue and proceed to the next day as normal. I'll update this post if we find anything else.

          While testing all this, we've been running into another issue where, sometimes, when I leave Pierre's after buying the backpack, my game will go into a black screen. I can see the mouse cursor, but cannot interact with the game in any meaningful capacity. If I have mods on, I can use a mod to trick the game into letting me access my inventory, upon which I'll be able to see myself standing inside Pierre's at the front door, but leaving the menu will return the screen to fully blank and unable to interact. So far I haven't been able to consistently reproduce this particular error, but it's happened once in vanilla gameplay and a handful of times under SMAPI.

          Related to this, on occasion when I could get the menu to work, I would exit to title screen and reload the save from there. However, occasionally doing this could lead to another problem - the 2nd player would rejoin the freshly reloaded game with his upgraded backpack still unlocked. I believe he also had issues with seeing my character properly when we were in the same area (I had no such issues seeing him on my end). As far as I can tell, this seems to be a bit of a funky client desync arising from the host & players not fully exiting a game and reloading a save from the same day, where the game might not be fully flushing out all the gameplay progression even after returning to the title screen.

          EDIT: To be clear, while playing in vanilla, we can sell _slightly less_ stuff and buy everything (both players get deluxe backpacks, 2nd player gets the stardrop), and the game proceeds to the next day without any issue. This is a bizarrely specific combination of actions that seems to induce the end-of-day crash.

            Hello! I've just updated to the latest beta update (1.3.12) and have found a bug. When buying the furniture catalog from Robin, the game immediately CTD's. I'm playing a save that was started in 1.3, and is singleplayer. I don't know if this was happening before 1.3.12 or not, but it happens immediately when selecting the furniture catalog from her shop. I'm running the game via Steam, on Windows 7, and I was able to re-create the CTD by again attempting to buy the furniture catalog from Robin. I've attached my error log below, this is my first time posting on these forums so hopefully that's everything you need and it can be fixed soon!

              I've been having game crashes whenever me or any of my friends in co-op click on anything furniture or wallpaper related. I can't move furniture, purchase them or anything.

                I've had a similar issue with my farmhand. For me, I was able to avoid the crashing by removing the auto-grabber I had. He also crashed when a cow gave birth. So something about the barns? Mine is fully upgraded.

                  No, they just contain the word "stone". That is seriously it. >_> (This means you can also use Stone Signs as well.)

                  So, since I thought this would be fixed, the problem of the crash bug is pretty simple:

                  this.type will never be null, it's a NetField. You need to look against this.type.Value (and doing this search-replace on Object.cs might help with some other reported issues too.)

                      Here too, the game shuts down whenever I tried to buy anything house decorating related.
                      The first time it was a painting from Robin and second time flooring from the catalog.
                      My error log is attached below, I wasn't too sure which part of my save file I should add :/

                      A bit unrelated but I still have the glitch of my flooring switching to a different one randomly in my house. That's how I encountered this bug at first.
                      The house has been upgraded once.

                          There has been a bug becoming more common which makes the game unplayable in co-op.

                          When selling to Pierre the game crashes. Additionally, when selling in the bin and going to sleep, the game crashes before it can save. It feels like a groundhog day :(

                            Got an update yesterday. After it installed, I was in the mines late and tried to use the Journal "cheat" to get back home to bed without passing out. After the first time opening it, the Journal icon disappeared and I couldn't access it. The next day, after passing out, the Journal icon had not returned. I closed my game after this and went to bed. Just opened the game this morning and the Journal icon is still missing, and when I use "F" to open it, it is completely blank (I had one quest still going).

                              Performed more testing regarding the FPS issue, found it is possibly more complicated. Not certain if the beta is running single-threaded or not but I AM certain it is both maxing out core 0 (always core 0) when the FPS issues occur AND I'm certain it is not using the 4 hyper-threading "cores". Restricting SV to core 0 showed no noticeable difference in core usage, so I believe it is running single-threaded AND there is some other problem causing the periodic spikes from the average 3-4% CPU usage up to 12.5% (when it maxes core 0 as high as 99.73%). The LT running the latest official release has none of these problems.

                              Found more game glitches:
                              1 - SV crashed on me when I entered the Secret Woods. I would attach the log but the game didn't create a log, as my latest error log is from 2 months ago. It was Mon, Fall 8, year 3. The only unusual thing I did that day was play Shane's 8-heart event about the blue chickens. Then I foraged Cindersap Forest, entered Secret Woods & it crashed at the black screen between zones. Was unable to repeat the crash as I progressed beyond the event & entering the Secret Woods without problem when I tried again.
                              2 - While riding my horse through Cindersap Forest, I noticed sounds which didn't fit. I randomly heard sounds of walking on wood flooring or opening a door or chest. I could be wrong, but considering my position in the forest when I heard the sounds, it almost seemed like it was playing sounds based off where I would be on my farm.
                              3 - I just watched the 10-heart event with Elliot. 2 problems: 1 - I have yet to watch the 8-heart event with Elliot; 2 - I only HAVE 8 hearts with Elliot because I never gave him a bouquet.
                              4 - Running sound continues playing when running up to any merchant if you don't stop running before talking to the merchant. Well, tested with the mouse & dwarf.

                                On Patch 1.13.11
                                - daily change Crash on Host
                                - switch Steam Accounts with the farmhand's fixed it (still the same host, just chnaged the PC's)

                                on Patch 1.13.12
                                - worked for 3 days's (no crashes)
                                - now same issue (crash on daily change) before profit screen appear

                                  Got two bugs to report from the looks of things:

                                  1.) We (for reasons) have a chest full of Joja wallpapers, when we interact with the chest, after a couple seconds it crashes the client.

                                  2.) If we sell to any of the vendors as opposed to sticking it in the bin, the game will crash at the end of the day, regardless of what is sold and how you fall asleep (either by passing out or going to sleep normally).

                                      Hello- I'm having a crash bug when purchasing items from shops- both Robin's and the Traveling Cart. The freeze/crash happens on the click that would normally purchase an item. I had to name my save file as a .txt to get it to upload here- that one is the one that says "save copy".

                                      Edit: As later people pointed out, it does seem to be decorative items. At Robin's, it was some sort of potted plant and at the Traveling Cart, it was a painting.

                                        So, i was playing on singleplayer on the beta and came to the problem where i cant reset the mine levels using the elevator or the stairs. I know that for multiplayer that its to be expected but on singleplayer i was expecting to still be able to reset the mine levels.

                                        The biggest problem i see with it, its that it limit the farming on the mine, which would probably frustrate a lot of players. I personally dont like the idea of needing to visit all mine levels and reaching a limit of minerals in a day...
