Stardew Valley Multiplayer Beta: Known Issues & Fixes 2

    When you run up to a shop outdoors such as at a festival or the gypsy shop, when you pull up the shop menu you continue to run (you can hear the sound of your footsteps while the shop menu is up)

      Make sure you don't have any graphical mods installed. They won't have the sprites for the new items, so they'll appear invisible.

          I think the only graphic type things I have is portraits, cat, horse, scarecrows, farm layout, farmer, and the bath house. Nothing that directly involves the barn lifestyle though. Or any other crafting things but the scarecrows.

            It does directly involved. Scarecrows are in a single craftables.xnb with pot and autograbber, update your mod or remove them for now.

              Gotcha, but how will that fix the whole auto-grabber being invisible? Considering that is a store thing you buy.
              Scratch that. It seems to have fixed the auto-grabber thing as well. Thanks for the tip on it being the scarecrow mod. Any idea on why Elliott's 8 heart event isn't triggering?

                Furniture can be placed in bundles in the Community Center.

                One of our Russian wiki editors discovered that putting a Crystal Chair into the Ocean Fish Bundle counted as a sardine. I tested in v1.2.33 and v1.3.21, and found it to be true. Then (in v1.3.21) I checked a Stump Seat (item #88 in Furniture.xnb) and was able to place it in the Exotic Foraging Bundle as a Coconut (item #88 in ObjectInformation.xnb). A Blue Couch counted as a Snow Yam also.

                  I'm on the 1.3.21 And when a new friend joins to my farm my FPS significantly drops. It won't get better unless I exit the area (my farm) and come back. Then it returns to normal.

                    I've noticed that too, it's like some pause feature is missing in the game.
                    If I run up to the traveling cart and keep running as I hit the menu, the character will continue to run in spot and the sound won't go away.

                    Another thing that I've noticed is that the game doesn't pause/freeze anymore when I click outside the game window.
                    I don't play in full screen, I like to have access to the taskbar and desktop and before, I was able to pause the game just by clicking on those things.
                    Now the game will just keep running no matter if I'm using the browser or using some other thing. I really miss the automatic pause, hope it's a bug and not a feature now.

                      Minor Bug!
                      I added farmhands to my established farm right before I completed my last bundle. Finished bundle. Finished community center. We all got the cutscene and statue even though my farmhands did nothing lol.

                      Now that the community center is done - and my farmhands never interacted with any of the bundles - they cannot talk to the wizard at all. They can't go in his house. This is devastating for my one farmhand who adores him, but they can deal.

                      I searched through my game files and being a coding novice, was unable to find the correct string to activate at least that they'd seen a junimo note. Please help with a temp fix while we wait for a future fix?

                      are you in multiplayer when that happens? you cant pause the game besides with the pause command in text chat.

                        I'm not the one who wrote originally, but the issue is very much present in single-player games as well.

                        It also affects the in-door auto-grabber, but once you take something from it, the walking animation stops immediately. Not so much the case with the affected shops, the character animation and the sound of steps keep going indefinitely.

                            Hi, Ive got the same type of crash several times. when I have the quest to get some cave carrot to Marnie and I have it in my pocket and I step into her house the game crashes. If It is not in my inventory everythings fine. the other crash is, when I step into the Secret Woods the game crashes every time. And by all the crashes my Visual Studio opens and wants me to debug. I attach everything I can.

                                Regarding the Elliott 8 heart event that wasn't triggering for me at all; an probably for those who are having trouble getting his letter in the mail. If you don't wish to date Elliott than if you have the CJB Cheat Mod enable, you can shift his heart affection for you to a level 9 in that menu an the next day you'll receive the letter in the mail. I found this out because I didn't want to have anyone as the bf/gf except for one person, and I just hopped that shifting his heart affection by one heart would work. :rofl:

                                  I too had this issue today. I do not have the log, but here are some specific details in game:
                                  - Fall 19, year 1 (day after Marnie's B-Day) is when the cave carrot quest was given. Rainy Day.
                                  - Had a cave carrot so i went into her shop that same day. Got inside and cutscene starts. Got to the first dialog box from Marnie, then after hitting left mouse to continue the scene, game soft crashed (gme continued to be present, cursor would move with the mouse, but mouse clicks did nothing, nor did esc button). Was running mods with SMAPI (lookup everything, and automate [both updated today]), so i ran the game again without SMAPI, got a different crash (screen flicker, then window closed).
                                  - Have not tried to finish the quest on another day yet. I can try that later today.

                                    It has been almost a month since I have been able to play with the Beta version. Around June 5th, the beta option disappeared off my steam. One day I could play, the next day when I logged in, it was gone. I was 7 days away from grandpas evaluation at the beginning or year 3. I can still play the non beta version with no problems.

                                    I can no longer set beta at stardew valley / properties / beta. The only option I have is 'opt out of all betas'.

                                    There were some updates at that time, so I thought it would work itself out over time, but now a month later, I still have no option to play beta. I was 7 days away from grandpas evaluation. I have restarted steam, I have removed it and reinstalled it. Still no beta. I tried asking steam, but they just send me here.

                                    Anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this? I would really like to play with the beta version again. I have a Mac and both my daughters are still able to play fine on their macs. We all do regular updates, so it doesn't seem to be an update issue.

                                      Fix for Marnie's cave carrot event here.

                                      Enter the "jumpingjunimos" code again. Keep trying until it works and lets you select beta. If you still have the old game version after doing that, "verify integrity of game files" in Steam Local Files tab.

                                        Regarding the inability to pause -- this is not present in singleplayer for me in v1.3.21. Some of the previous posts seem a bit confusing with quoting multiple issues. I can replicate the no-pause scenario when running 2 versions of the game on the same machine via SMAPI -- the game does not pause when selecting another active app's window; in fact, it never pauses unless the host pauses through the chat command.

                                        @YukiNoUsagi -- Elliott's 8-heart event actually triggers at 2002 friendship points (exactly 8 hearts + 2 points). Is it possible you were lacking just 1 or 2 points? (Imagine the odds on that!)

                                        Also, could someone puhleeze add the cave carrot quest bug to the OP? ...Not that anyone would necessarily see it, but I think the categories other than "Fixed" are being underused. (nudge nudge)

                                          Hi, haven't read through the whole thread so I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but my friend and I have a bug during the Stardew Valley Fair. When either of us play the fishing game, we can never catch any fish, only trash. Frustrating, as I am really bad at the slingshot game but want the stardrop!
