starcheat: player save editor and Python library [Deleted]

    I downloaded and tried running StarCheat in order to get rid of a modded tech i have on my character. I uninstalled the Mod (creative mod) and forgot to take it off my active techs. Now everytime i load that char, my game crashes. I tried reinstalling the mod to no avail. So i downloaded Starcheat to get rid of it. But for some reason the 'manage your tech' button is greyed out and i cant use it! Help please!

    I've noticed the stacks of items generated by starcheat are not able to be stacked into vanilla stacks, or can they be properly used in some cases.

    I've noticed this is because vanilla generated ones don't have properties attached, but the ones starcheat have a whole bunch of attached properties.

    Excuse me,a pair of little questions:
    How do I change the colour and the position of the weapons' fragments?Because I don't truly know how to use those options ...I just need to change the colours of butt and middle to brown and,well...just a tutorial about the position of the images...

    Does this have any decent support for modded races? If not that would be a highly desired feature as race mods are becoming more and more popular, heck the top rated mod on this site is a race mod. Shouldn't be too hard seeing how starstructor can automatically pick up mod tiles almost seamlessly.

      Med kit icon specifically happens (I think) because that icon is a different size to the rest. I want to fix all this by rendering inventory icons the same fancy way Starbound does but I am still very new to working with images like this.

      There is some crazy advanced Qt stuff I need to do to make drag and drop better. I want it to swap items in slots instead over overwrite them, I hate the current behaviour too. So it's high on my list but a big time commitment possibly.

      I love the idea of inventory management too (one day it would be cool to organise and store items to ship chests). It sounds dumb but I need to learn how to create right click menus to make this happen. Buttons are possible but I think it would be cluttered.
    • This will relate back to the first issue with the icon rendering stuff. If you want to make a new github issue for it I will grab it.
    • I will look into the shield thing. It must be pretty easy to render those. The swords and guns are a little harder because it involved sticking 2/3 different images together.

      Relates back to the item icon rendering. Just need to learn how the Python image libraries work better. It will be so cool when it's done though, I think it's a really important feature.
    I'm still not really following how you're doing this sorry. Would you be able to upload an example player with the values set?

    Managing techs doesn't work in the latest release at all sorry. It's almost done in the dev version but still definitely not ready. If you upload a copy of your player I could edit it out manually for you, otherwise it might work to reinstall creative mod and remove the tech in game?

    Yes, but I can't really give specific instructions off the top of my head. weapons usually have an option called something like active effects, in there it defines what the weapon does during attack, idle etc. If you want a weapon to regen health passively you could edit the idle section and add a new status effect to give health (like a bandage would do). You add to the same section that "shieldsuppress" is.

    starcheat needs to be extracted to work, you have to click extract all files on the zip and run it from the new folder it makes. You might also have to do this afterwards: http://starcheat.org/help#reset_all_settings

    That's correct. I'm still not sure how to get around this though. Different items have different rules for how they are generated. It's on the todo list though so hopefully one day.

    Is this definitely the latest version of starcheat? I just ask because the log file contents looks really old. If it is, I'll see if I can reproduce this. It's possible something has changed with the Starbound save format but it's weird starcheat seems to be causing this for itself. If there are any save files you didn't back up you can upload them and I'll try fix them up.

    It's not specifically about the image positioning stuff but might help a little. I'd really like to add an interface for editing this stuff but haven't felt very motivated or had time :(

    It should have full support at least as far as setting and detecting the custom races. If there is a specific mod not working just let me know I can look into it specifically.

    How am I supposed to open Starcheat to edit game file location if Starcheat won't even open unless it can find a save file in the directory it's checking?

    Perhaps I just missed something. But overlooking this detail caused me a great deal of confusion and troubles before I realized what I'd done to cause it. Ultimately I had to make a dupe Starbound folder to change the location to the correct Starbound folder.

    Ok I got a 'hopefully' SImple question to ask about using starcheat to edit colors.

    The Item i'm wanting to color is a normal object with an animation on it. I've seen a player use this program to make the Animated Avian Glyph panel change from Blue to Red. Which was cool. However I haven't been able to get a hold of him to ask him how he did it since i'm trying to simply edit a Glitch Castle Trapdoor to be Wood Brown.

    I was hopeing someone might know the Directive information to put in for the color replacement for an object. I'm sure it would be a simple ?Replacement but I'm not sure how to set it up for an object.

    I am aware though that if you pick the item back up after its been placed it will default back to its origional colors, I can work with that I just gota figure out how to color it to begin with. Thanks for your help~

    How can you add effects to your armor (Such as Hot feet, or just glowing), or, make it so the Syringe's effects are permanent?

    If you're talking about the particles,you need to do a modification for that...for now Starcheat hasn't got these functions...maybe it will in the next update,but this is a decision that belongs to Wizzo...
    Oh,Wizzo...about the colour,I decided to copy the colour codes from random generated weapons(I helped myself with the random guns generator from a modification)but...about the position,may I ask which is the 0 point,since it's based off coordinates?Thank you very much indeed.

    I do not understand how to even start starcheat, I have a mac and I whent to read me in the starcheat-0.11 folder and i dont understand what i have to do... PLEASE HELP is there a guide on this? cuz i searched on google and there isnt any guides :(
