Its nice to be able to watch the game update even though its not released yet. Gives us an idea of how phase one is likely to go down when the time comes around as far as the frequency of updates.

ooooo my god, finally, wait when was this game initially supposed to release beta anyway?

This game... man....5 months post release this title will be... so amazing, everyone can just host a server with 10-20 people like? cuz some people talk abouit 100 people servers or more and that sounds crowded as fuck, i figure it would be similiar to terraria in gameplay and therefore be fun with maybe only 4 people or 5 and not 200.

and after 5 months all these things will be added from the devs and mayb alot of cool mods i can just easily add to the server, ITS GONNA BE AMAZING ,. what if i even can build a cannon on my house that destroys YOUR house :DDDDD

First it was "2012", a lot of people waited all year for that, then they said early 2013. Then just 2013, then late 2013. They're cutting it mighty fine, but glad to see it's finally coming out.

Also, you can host a server with as many slots as you like. I'd assume most people hosting 10-20 servers will probably only use them privately. 100-200 Servers won't necessarily be crowded, there are billions of planets across a massive universe, if you wanna hermit out, you can go lightyears away from everyone and setup your home planet there, and visit others whenever the notion suits you!

The thing is, there must be a hub every player can visit or else it would be very hard to make contact with other people. I don't see how a huge MMO server could work without one.

i would assume a big MMO sever would create a hub world in each sector and give out the X,Y numbers to find it on a Message of the day or on a web page. just a thought. im not going to be on any large severs myself

I suppose if there are big servers, they'll have websites with forums and help that give the co-ordinates to a hub planet. as of now, iirc, everyone spawns in a random location in the universe at the start, so we'll probably just have to work towards each other for now.

Edit: Given tiy's latest tweet, and the fact that the average online count when I look on is around 5-6, I think a good few youtubers got their mitts on it tonight:

As I said, it normally sits around 5-6, coinciding with Tiy's tweet it would be a hell of a coincidence.

SteamDB is a fun tool, neh? The current max (simultaneous) recorded players is 13. Heck 6 are playing with it as I write this post. If any YouTubers have copies, I expect these numbers to jump at some point in the near future perhaps.

I would imagine that is testers and streamers. I believe they are playing through Steam, we just don't have access yet.

  13. Normal stuff for a game with more than 6 devs testing the crap out of a game's first public build a day before launch.

Tiy had 50 Starbound keys from Steam.

He gave all of them out to people, and he's getting more today that he's going to be giving to more streamers/youtubers.

  18. That Chucklefish office isn't going to pay for itself.

If the devs had been living off of foodstamps like some of the preorderer's wanted they could've afforded one by now.

Wait... what? Giving away a game to popular streamer or youtuber is like a 15 euro worth game advertisement up to hundred thousands of people may view!

Hmm... I wonder whether they sent a copy to Pewdiepie... :seriously:
Nuuuuh! You must post cat videos to be one! That's, like, an initiation rite! :proper:
