Starbound's Approximate Percentage of Done-ness.

Actually I've noticed this forum is much more lenient on swearing now. At the beginning everyone was like "OOOOH! He said 'sucks.' You said a bad word!" and now everyone is like "shit motherf*cker ass tits c*nt cock motherf*cker shit ass tits motherf*cker shit, come on."

I honestly don't know how it changed so dramatically. I literally just logged on one day and was like "wait, that person said 'shit' and nobody cared! This is madness!"

 

I've never understood the issue people have with profanity. The words shit and fuck are just that, words. Unless directed toward a person in a derogatory manner I have absolutely no idea why people react as though the person swearing just shat in their coffee.

But back on topic. It is as you said Zellman, most of the stuff that requires a great deal of work is essentially finished. The only thing that really requires a lot of attention that has yet to be done is quests and NPCs, a feature I'm sure we can all agree doesn't need to be in a beta.

 

You added the Cake percentage?

 

I second this. Some things do take longer than others. My guess on the beta timeframe would be summer regarding what has been done till now and what is left.

 

Crap, I ripped and I voted "yes"... Of course, I disagree, even if it'd be cool if the game comes like you found in your calculs. At the moment, 2013 is the most trustable release date.

 

Sadly, I didn't include it. Seeing as it is above 100%, it wouldn't have figured in very well. However, I do understand that eating cake does comprise some time the devs spend, so yeah...

 

As the thread title indicated, this should be about the Roadmap and percent-complete-ness, not discussing swearing and foul language. If the OP asks you to refrain from using excessive language, there's no reason to disrespect him and go out of your way simply to annoy.

Now, on topic, estimated date from OP is just that. We don't have the exact date the game started development, nor any idea how much each individual part of game development counts for, though some clearly take up a lot more time than others, so even if two may be listed at 50% one could easily have taken several times longer than the other, making it impossible to simply add up all the percentages and from that conclude that the game should be done at a certain (or even estimated) date.

 

Actually I think that the BETA will come out on August 29th. The finished game won't come out until next year given everything I've seen so far from Tiy.
I'd love to be wrong though.

 

The first half of this year DEMANDS at least an BETA or an announce when it's the game coming out if there isn't a BETA.
Even if it comes out in the final year... an continuous (that means that end some time before game launches) BETA till summer.

 

The problem with that is that I've already done it 1 billion times. All the nostalgia has been re-visited. This the isn't the first I've waited for a game :/

 

Oh I was just giving you the GC games Ive played. There are plenty of games with great replay value. If youd like another list, merely name a Nintendo console and I can come up with at least a half dozen games ive played on it that I love. For example:

SNES:
Donkey Kong Country (Shits on like Donkey Kong -w- )
Super Mario RPG (Geno is like a wooden Chuck Norris)
Mother 3 & Earthbound (Fan Translation on 3, that game heals all who play it to the end)
Final Fantasy I & II (Your somehow a squirrel who has money...)
DKC2: Diddy Kongs Quest (Pirates. Nuff said.)
Super Mario World (I dare you to beat the Special Star World without the Cape)
The Legend of Zelda (To this day I play it to see how far I can get through without a cutscene )

If we go into handhelds I am sure Ive played plenty of games which you may or may not have tried. Seriously give a couple a try

My question is, How often will the road map be updated? That might give us a better idea of time frame here.

 

Hey go post this on FAQ, I wanna see if devs will respond or someone knows about updates on the roadmap. Maybe the new percents will be a different color or? Idk.

 

... Now that I come to think of it, now instead of being bugged for how progress is doing, I wonder if the developers will be bugged instead for updates to the Road Map?

*cough* I wonder if well get any popular references once Starbounds done. I would so die if they put the Space Core into the game. Even on a fly by basis somewhere. You cant mention space without somehow running into him. God bless that little wierdo.

 

If Valve puts them in on steam, they will probably have something you get for preordering (They always do this). Maybe you could have the possibility to see space core if you preorder?

 

As I said before, such righteous whiteknighting is most unbecoming of this forum. Please, either be polite or do not speak at all, for please and thank you are far more likely to get your point across than facts and statistics, helpful thought they may be.

That said though, I find it stranger how it looks like I double posted. I never double post in any thread. And seeing how I have nothing to contribute to the thread anymore, Ill just leave off with my sincere hopes that the game pleasantly suprises us with an early(ier) release than all of us were expecting. Thats what keeps us coming back for more

 

Let's just assume that it's 99.9% done and it will be released tomorrow, until release of course when that actually becomes true.

 

Wow that means it has gone up by about 5% since Monday because it was 65.3% then.
