Starboundidus

I think we all went through the 5 stages of Starboundidus at one point.

Stage One: Excitement - The subject looks into what Starbound is about, this often leads to subjects feeling a sudden burst of energy at the feet, legs and arms this can cause the subject to suddenly jump up from there seat and do a fist pump (very strange).

Stage Two: Realization/Acceptance - The subject comes to the conclusion that this is the best game of all time and spends countless hours talking and posting about it, this leads to dryness of the mouth and soreness in the fingers and jaw.

Stage Three: Intensive Researcher To A Point Of Madness - The subject does massive researcher into the game often asking any other subjects or developer questions repetitively, this often leads to annoyance from other subjects and developers and can cause severe eye strain if the subject looks at the screen for to long.

Stage Four: Rejection - The subject often rejects Starbound and the forums for a short time, this can be brought on by developers pushing the release date back or the sudden realization of how long they will have to wait till they can play it. This can cause the subject to go outside more, get more exercise and lose weight subjects are also seen eating healthier and consuming far less amounts of energy drinks and junk food.

Stage Five: Calmness - The subject often return a whole lot calmer this leads to quality postings and good thread creation, it also leads to a more peaceful and helpful community.

Stage Six: DEATH! - Some subjects have been found dead with there heads through a monitor. Never mind this stage its irrelevant apparently some of the subjects used haxs to get into the Starbound forums database and well we all know what happens when you use HAXS

So there you have it the most severe stages of Starboundidus every seen, I recommend two CC's of Terraria and a daily dose of minecraft to keep this illness at bay.

Also a lot of Subjects where hurt in the making of this thread

 

Well up to stage 5 now with the exception of more healthy lifestyle (that was repaced with a few months of minecraft) until I asked myself "I wonder how that starbound game is coming along"

 

i like the post, but i didn't go through these stages ^^ i was interested when the game was announced, then i kept an eye on it from the distance but with all the announcements lately, i've been getting pretty excited. but i'm also pretty calm about it i don't think i'll die any time soon so i have time to wait for this game. also, a huge steam backlog

 

I loved the idea of Starbound several months ago, and to this day I still do, no matter what they announce.

 

Whoa, this is EXACTLY what happened to me.

 

I think I skipped straight to 5, with a healthy dose of 1.

 

I feel stage one requires some measure of drool. And perhaps even skeptical disbelief.
And a party in my pants!

 

Jumped quite quickly to stage five, with latent stages two and three and acute outbursts of stage one whenever the devs post a screenie.

 

I skipped 3 and 4.

I'm in all stages at once except rejection.

 

I'm still on stage two.

I mean, I spend every week polishing an 8-page newspaper. WHAT AM I DOING WITH MY LIFE

 

Stage 5.

 

I think I started off at stage 5 and then pretty much stayed there forever. I'm so boring. </3

 

Stage three I fear....

 

I guess I went to stage 5 right after I researched the game. I am cool with them polishing it up and making it as bug free as possible.

I was thinking that I didn't go through any of this, then I realized that this summed up my discovery of the game perfectly...

 

Pretty neat system we have here. I'm probably a 5.
However, I think this might change over time. When I first heard about the game a year or so ago, I was so excited. But in a different way. We didn't know practically anything about the game yet, save a few screenshots and blurbs. With every new screenshot, a thousand of our questions were answered. I remember it being a controversial question whether or not there would be actual block by block mining. Not that I don't like where Starbound is going; I just think the amount of possibilities we had back then created more excitement than there is now.

 

I'm usually at stage 5 on pretty much everything ever. I have random bouts of excitement that usually only last a few seconds, and they don't happen very often.
