I understand that, was just pointing out how your original argument was not that strong. But the points you just made make sense.

Would not really work at all. And for those saying "Use it as a bigger screen" you can use that two hundred bucks to get a bigger screen that is cheaper.

    It's not 2d at all. It's "2.5D".
2.5D games - 3D games with a two-dimensional playing field. For example another game that you can play in 2.5D is Trine 2.

Starbound is a 2D game and is not 2.5D.

The .5 is just a background illusion it is still a side scroll-er on a 2d plane. Honestly this is just semantics, and I never said starbound should be on the oculus rift. I just pointed out a 2d side scroll-er is on the oculus rift to the person asking if one had been made. In conclusion starbound already has many more feasible cost effective and marketable ports ahead of the pc release, to port to oculus at this time would not make business sense.

I know what 2.5D is and starbound is not 2.5D. It is not in a 3D space so it cant be 2.5D. Moving backgrounds don't make a game 2.5D

  7. How the hell would a 2D game run well on the Oculus Rift..

I don't think so. Not everyone is going to have an Oculus Rift, and even less of those people would wanna play a 2D game on it. When I think Oculus Rift I think Skyrim, not Starbound.

I wasn't talking about the Starbound, but about AZTEZ. Check the post that I quoted.

Agree to disagree, no point in another pointless debate to add to the ocean of pointless debates on the internet.

We don't(I actually own an Oculus Rift and use it quite a lot), it's just a fact that the OR wasn't made for 2D games, and therefore wouldn't work that well in Starbound.

It was strong, but I haven't made it as clear as I get it. The big deal about such VR devices is that they make 3D games like fps's look very real, so that's their final purpose. The guy who said that Starbound should support Oculus probably ran out of ideas on how to generate post count on the forums.

I mean, you can't just go out and ask random questions about things that you don't even take your time to think about.

What's with this confusion over dimensions in games? Starbound is 2D (no depth), Command and Conquer Red Alert 2 is 2.5D and Trine 2 is 3D (No, just because you can only travel left/right does not make it 2D, notice the 3D models.)

If you can afford an Oculus Rift, you can afford a better laptop. Besides, you'd look silly with that thing out in public...
