It'd be cool if we could create our own Fishing Lakes for Fishable Fish to Spawn in, especially Fishing Lava Lakes. :)

OP? I thought Shields were totally useless... Then again I suck buggers at Blocking with them.

    I miss 2-Handed Axes. :(

The only time I ever use a shield is against Big Ape when he's spamming the pillbolts. I stand back in the corner with my Magnorbs and try to "Just Guard" them.

Since 1.1, I can no longer toggle from a weapon to free hands by repeatedly pressing the corresponding number key. Is this a 1.1 change? A mod conflict? A bug introduced by 1.1? Either way, I don't like not being able to toggle an item by pressing the number key associated with it.

As I haven't used W10 yet - still using W7 - this is the best thing I can do for you -
    https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=how+to+turn+off+the+pagefile+in+windows+10
But it should be more than sufficient.

I would HOPE that W10 is smart enough to not run a pagefile on an SSD. I do know all modern OS's don't defrag solid state storage because it is both unnecessary and will degrade the life of the device(tons of extra reads/writes). I would hope it understands therefore not to run a pagefile(which could be even worse). W7 still is willing to use an SSD for this, but maybe Microsoft came to their senses for W10 if not W8.

Now for the W7 people -

This might have too much detail for most of you, but what is obvious to some isn't obvious to others.

    1. Find My Computer and right click on it.
A small menu will pop up.
Hover over Properties and left click on it.

    2. A window with different things on it appears. But look over to the left for a column of options.
Go to Advanced System Settings and left click on it.

    3. A new window appears with 5 tabs at the top.
You want to be in the Advanced tab, and if not then left click on it.
There are 3 sections to this tab. You want to look at the Performance section.
Within this section, left click on the Settings button.

    4. A new window appears with 3 tabs at the top.
You want to be in the Advanced tab, and if not then left click on it.
There are 2 sections to this tab. You want to look at the Virtual Memory section.
Within this section, left click on the Change button.

    5. A new window appears.
There is a checkbox up top for Automatically manage paging file size for all drives that is probably already checked.
If checked, you want to clear the check by left clicking on this checkbox.
    Some options have become highlight-able.
Just below the checkbox is a list of all your mounted Hard Disk Drive Volumes. c: , d: , etc. You don't NEED to know what that means necessarily.
One at a time, you need to do the following (starting with C: ) .

    6. Left click on a drive letter.
Below there are 3 options in the form of bubbles you can left click.
The one that's currently filled in is probably System managed size but we want No paging file.
So left click on the bubble for No paging file.
Then to the right of that bubble, left click on the Set button.
For all other letters, repeat this entire step.

    7. At the bottom of the screen, left click on the OK button.
A new window appears to inform you that The changes you have made require you to restart the computer before they can take effect.
    Left Click on OK.
On each Window we opened, also Left Click on OK.
    A new window should appear.
There are two options - Restart Now and Restart Later.
Unless you are in the middle of something, left click on Restart Now.
But if you need to save your work etc, instead left click on Restart Later. Then save your work, and restart the system like usual.

    8. After a reboot, your system will no longer be using a pagefile/virtual memory.

I am very interested to here from someone who experiences bad lag, if doing this improved the situation or not.

Oh... I didn't know the Dagger - Shield Combo could do that. Interesting... Many thanks for the info. :)

Also, got the Objective done on the page file change. I tried setting its minimum & maximum value to 0 & the OS warned me that if I proceed with that, & I get a System Error or such, the Setting could compromise the OS's ability to Generat stuff like Error Info if the Setting was anything less then 800MB for the Initial Value, so I tried setting the Initial & Max Value to 800 MB. I'll see if Starbound runs any better this way. (It's default setting turned out to be in the ballpark of 2GB.)

Absolutely. That is the purpose of the log. I strongly recommend/request you use code or spoiler tags lest you over-run a thread. I actually prefer to use a code tag within a spoiler tag.

When things aren't working, those logs are gold. Otherwise you're just shooting in the dark and not much is going to get fixed. If you know how to reliably replicate a problem, that will further shorten the hunt considerably. Be it the devs or modders like myself, the more you help us, the easier/quicker/likelier we are to help you with your specific issue... for entirely practical reasons. Ditto with any sort of tech support(a career I once held FYI). Too much information is infinitely better than no/vague information. Saying "it doesn't work" doesn't help - either party.

I'm officially going to suggest you ignore their warnings. Especially when you have 16GB of RAM. If it has an option for "none" then that's what I'd go for. I know in W7 there is a minimum if you are to use it at all, but not if you just disable it.

And I double my suggestion if your only HD is an SSD. That's going to result in tons of write/reads that will greatly hasten the day your drive is dead. SSDs do have a finite number of reads and writes in them. That number is large, but finite all the same. Make sure there is no swapfile on any SSD. Swapfiles - when used at all - should only be on magnetic platter drives aka standard HDs. Yes they're slower, but then pagefiles are always slower.

Unless of course you have a certain budget set aside to periodically replace those SSDs before they reach their limit. That isn't how most people operate.

Collecting a bug with the butterfly net now crashes my game. When I reload, the bug is gone and I haven't collected anything.

EDIT: So I created a new character and tested this as well. Attempting to collect a bug causes an immediate crash the moment the net hits it. Does anyone else have this problem? It could be related to a mod, of course, but I have no idea which and the thought of trying to isolate it is daunting.

Yes, this bug bug is bugging me. What a bugger!

Dual wield grenade launchers both with proximity mines. Even rifle with explosive burst is weak next to it. For attacking enemies there's no better firearm than this. Knockback, knockback everywhere. And these easy hits + area denial

And also I dual wield machine pistols with max fire rate possible can basically make enemy crawl in place

Yeah maybe some minor damage buff would fit the Ruin. What I thought that he really needs more Health; also making his tentacle attack more reliable (or adding one new attack would be nice).

I got idea back after I beat last boss for the first time. At the beginning of the game there are special stars - "Unstable" ones. You can't reach them until you beat the Ruin. After you do that Pete gives you quest to upgrade ship once more. From now Unstable stars are free to explore. They can have planets with every biome that exists but with level 7 threat (possible new weapons and maybe armors?).

What do you guys think? :nuruwink:

I seem to get the same effect whenever I make a piece of food I haven't made before. I think it has to do with adding to the new collection tab, though we could have different bugs on our hands.

Update to my earlier post: Just wanted to mention that the crash also occurs if you break loose a previously placed bug-in-a-jar.

EDIT: The same crash occurred when I crafted a new food item as well. The error is the same one referencing the new collection system:

"Exception caught in client main-loop (AssetException) Error loading asset/player.config:collectableUnlock"

Is this a mod-related bug? FU or other? I don't want to have to unsubscribe to any of the mods I have just because of this new update. I'd rather have the diversity of FU (and all the other mods I use) than the ability to fish. I hope these issues can be resolved because it has nearly ruined my game-play experience since 1.1 was released. I never know when a crash is going to happen now.
