    Ok folks.

You will have a nice little planet to call your home, set in a solar system with a number of planets / moons / asteroids.Set in a large universe of other solar systems.
I assume each of the planets will have some resources but after a certain point you will have made essentially everything and covered your world with shining cities, explored and mined your moons and the other planets close by. So aside from quests sending you here and there, what will keep you exploring? What will stop you having a quick look at a planet but not bothering to explore every part of each new one?

Nothing will stop me till i have seen 100% of this game and nothing new will appear. And maybe even then i will still explore this universe of pure awesomenes :D

The day that I explore everything Starbound has to offer is the day that I am dead.

  6. Well Starbound will have many stuff to explore, if we are not the "cheating type" (what happened with most players of terraria), we can have gameplay for a long time discovering new stuff.

What makes me smile about exploring things it's that after launch the possibilities to add awesome things to the generation engine, from biomes to new types of space objects to explore will keep this game to don't run out of content! :alien:

There might be one thing from exploring everything. It's the fact that I don't want the game to end is what's stopping me. I want the game to theoretically, last forever.

well i would like the game to be ever lasting but it would just get boring because theres no challenge after you have the best armor, best weapon, best everything.unless they make it were the monsters get better while you go through the game.

Sounds to me like it's time to make a new character. Try playing as another race and take a different route through the stars.

I agree though at the moment I want the game to start.... but then so do we all.
I am not sure, no matter how amazing something is, the newness/ sense of wonder will fade. Soon all the planets will look the same, just another ball of mud to dig through for ore.
I also wont be cheating. I will gladly spend hours at a time mining, just because I love doing it. I am the guy who had no need of gold or ore in wow, but I would spend at least an hour each day flying around mining ore just because I found it to be a nice way to relax after work. I can see this will be the same.

Yes I do that in a few games I have played over the years. Build and build until you end the game or are assured of a win and then start again. CIV games are good for that. WHen it reaches a point where you will inevitably win (albeit with a bit of a blood soaked slog through the ruins of the other players empires) I will restart, its the build up to the win I enjoy. :)
So starting with a new char and trying again will work well for me. Also with some of the post launch tools that will come and some friends who may play, you can make a load of interesting scenarios.

It would do the one thing for me that minecraft couldn't... allow me to look at lots of different worlds and keep all my stuff. I've always liked making hundreds or more like thousands of new worlds, just to look at what comes out of the generator. I think I'll find it hard to stop playing as it stands already. I'll never be done building, cause it'll always be "I found a better solar system to build in". I hope to play on a server so other people will stumble across my half built empires while I'm off at the newest one, only problem for me is it'll make it impossible for me to remember which abandoned castle has my loot in it.

    I'm a treasure hunter.
I will not leave any dungeon, any village or any cave unexplored.
There maybe some dark and hidden secrets which lies beneath the planets.

First. This game will generate endless possibilities, even things that look the same will be different.

Second. You will have at the start 7 races to explore. And I've heard that we will never be able to easily defeat the highest Teir planets with utmost ease as was the way in Terraria. Even the hardest planets will still be a challenge.

I live for the challenge, not the exploration.

Aside from any plot threads that are put in by the developers (or which can occur randomly) much of the motivation for what to do in a sandbox environment must come from the player.

Of course bringing ruin to a hundred worlds will keep me occupied. When terraforming is added and I can cover the Hylotl homeworlds seas over with rock, that I am sure will amuse me for a bit. Some bing projects will no doubt keep many happy, making epic structures, building 'safe' storage caches in asteroids to hide your loot and weapons, depopulating worlds.
I really hope you can wipe out all life on planets at some point.. I know in Spore I spent a great deal of time whenever I found a new non spacefaring race, either uplifting them into spacefaring or systematically wiping out every single village or city on whim. I would like to do that again.

Roleplay server can also add huge amount of play time to this game since you sort of create new content with your fellow RPers.
