Any news on Trading Cards for Starbound? (The Cards that Games on Steam can use)

There's really no reason not to have them, so I'd say it's likely. Though it probably won't be at release, because people would throw a fit if they thought the devs had spent time working on that instead of the game.

Hmm... Interesting. I hadn't paid it much thought really. But it could be quite fun. Depends on how it would be done though. Like, what they would be cards of.

Don't understand Steam cards..

At first I thought, "Oh hey, physical trading cards?.....oh, nope, just digital"
Then I thought, "Ah..maybe when you collect a set you can earn an actual set of those cards?...oh, just a digital badge"

I quickly lost interest and tried to send them all to my crazy hoarder girlfriend, turns out you can't just give them away, have to sell them, can't be bothered.

That being said, people want cards? Give em cards

Lol you can give them away, it's called Trading xD and you don't just get a badge, you get the Badge, 5 more friend slots, a special steam profile background, a special Emot for Steam, and a Coupon for a random game, not entirely useless lol

 

You have to enter a trade to give people your cards. I sell cards for some games to get cards for other games so I can get some snazzy backrounds, levels or emotes. I also use the steam funds I got from selling to buy other steam games or TF2 items.

 

I only have 5 Steam friends

As you were putting words in my mouth to make some point to argue opinion from personal preference, you may have also missed my assertion that I cannot be bothered with them. Going to my GF's profile, clicking on the drop down, choosing trade, moving all the cards over, ticking the box, clicking through two pop ups warning me I haven't asked for anything in exchange and sending them is not as simple as gifting them like a game....she wants em she can transfer them herself.

So..yeah seeing how your comment didn't somehow materialise physical collectables, my lack of personal interest stands. I promise not to have opinions in the future

Yeah, never been one for that sort of stuff, though have no issue with their purpose or popularity. (Except that weed emote going from hundreds of dollars, no idea why someone would pay for that lol)
I can even respect the way they have been implemented and used both as a promotion and proxi currency within. Just not my cup of tea, more cards for you

Sure you never said there useless, but you were acting like they are, you also said you can't just give them to your GF, so I said you can, you just trade them, never put words in your mouth, your putting words in MY mouth...

 

A site at "backpack.tf" has 3 bots that will happily trade you cards, you sell cards for points, they tell how manny points your getting, then you can but more cards, I went from a few Gmod cards, to a LEVEL 3 Gmod badge (collected the whole card collection 3 times) in a day... And I sold barely any cards!

 

nah, it should be each race. trading cards are about items or characters in-game, not about collecting the devs

 

No, you assumed and saw what you wanted to see. If I thought them useless, I would have said useless, not that I have no interest.
Perhaps I could have have better explained what I meant by give them away, but you could have avoided constructing a reason to argue a moot point.
