Starbound takes long to load?

I'm assuming this is a side effect of the Beta, but is there a particular reason as to why Starbound takes quite a bit of time to load? Is loading ALL of the game's assets, hence no loading on creating a new character/planet?

 

I've had a few occurrences of long loading. Its still being worked on I believe. I am unsure of why it takes so long. I generally don't have much issue with any game on my computer.

 

Every time I load the game, it takes at least 3 minutes, mostly more. It actually seems to be taking longer with each update...

 

I have no issues with it taking long.

 

For me it's a coin flip. Sometimes it takes forever and sometimes it's near instant. And sometimes it doesn't load at all and I have to kill the process after which it usually loads near instantly. Bizarre, but I knew what I signed up for.

 

Because it is still a work in progress the game is very unoptimized right now. That will probably be one of the last things before launch because there is no point in doing that when it is still being updated so frequently.

 

Mine is pretty consistent - a load time of several minutes, every time. I've gotten used to it by now, to the point where I'll start up the game while I'm still eating or doing other things, but I assume that it'll be shortened for everyone eventually.

 

Loads nearly instantly for me, but one of my friends says it takes a while for him to load.

Must have something to do with hardware.

 

Ever since I did that clear steam out of registry files thing to remove the FPS issues I was getting, the load is almost instant... before it was taking like a minute.

 

Whenever I launch the game for the first time after starting up, it takes me about three minutes. Any time afterwards loads immediately.

 

It loads for a minute or two for me, another minute after selecting a character. Optimization isn't the focus of this stage in beta yet.

 

Interesting, it used to take a lot longer to load, but now I play in windowed mode. (Shrunk the page) The entire game moves faster this way.

 

What is this? Mind explaining or link to what you're talking about?

 

Mine seems to depend on the patch and if I load standard or OpenGL. OpenGL seems to load faster but after the last patch or so it seems both take the same time.

I used to have really low FPS in Towns/Dungeons and when sand/gravel falls, but this fixed it.

 

Desactivate Overlay Steam. For me, it fix the loading problem.

 

yes one stupid bugfix makes loading time longer for me for 3 minutes
