Checking the main website once every week takes little to no effort. Sure, I suppose it'd be easy to sync nformation from the main website directly to the Steam Community. But, then, you could just visit the website once a week, considering it doesn't get updated frequently. Which, as I mentioned before, requires minimal effort.

I still don't get why this is a problem.

I don't why it's a problem for either of you, let alone anybody.

Cut the guy some slack. At least he's just asking and not demanding.

Edit: OK, maybe he is demanding. Sort of. Perhaps it's just a bad translation.

Why are people being hostile to this common sense suggestion? Many (maybe even most) people don't check the homepage for every game they play to see if there's any reason to go back. Also people looking to buy the game on early access might not know anything about it and from looking at steam (not only has it not been updated in a long time but the game has fallen way down in the charts) may assume this game is a dead game.

Funny how some people responded saying the steam community is negative and venomous. Guess the irony goes over their head.

Nobody here is being hostile. It's all in the interpretation of tone. Sure, mollygos could have done some sort of synchronization between the two. But, then again, why, because the main page is only a few clicks away? I mean, how hard is it just to google "Starbound" and click on the website? If people can't even do that, they're probably not the kind of people who would be interested in the development stuff.

Sure, "most people don't check the homepage for every game they play." But Starbound has been hyped all over the place for years. There is no reason any sane person would not at least search it up before buying it. Much less consider it a dead game. http://kotaku.com/if-i-were-the-doctor-id-surrender-too-not-even-escapi-1570221953 People don't make news of a dead game. That's only one article. I'll let you google the rest.

Before you make a claim, at least bring up some kind of evidence.

I don't know when you decided to become nice, but it's scaring me. It must be the end of the world!!!

Chill dude, I never said the game is dead, just that when the steam pages last update is from a few months ago one could easily come to that conclusion, no need to get your fanboy knives out. If you are gonna argue with that logic or with the common knowledge that your average gamer does not participate in forums (no I do not have numbers to back it up and I find you telling me to provide proof for that is ridiculous) for every game they play then I got nothing to say to that point and will let what has said so far speak for itself.

As to noone being hostile, very first person replying bitches about post duplication (wow never seen that on a forum) followed by a few other snarky posts and then your own first post in the thread
That jumps to conclusions about the OP, bitches about sentence structure (very common with people with no leg to stand on) and other condescending bs.

You know what? You're right. I was being a jerk.

Sorry about that Brassqund. It's my fault. I overreacted and thought you were just venting on the forums. This is especially sad because I myself once posted about that, telling others to not jump to quick conclusions. Sorry for being a hypocrite.

Here, I'll like all your posts to show there's no hard feelings.

I understand why Devs neglect Steam:
    1) You can't ban ppl for posting criticism or negative things\rumors about Devs as long as they don't swear, use insults, personal attack or break general Steam rules. Or rathers local mod still could ban ppl but one can always contacts Steam support and appeal about ban or post deletion. And where are no members who are "more equal" than all other for the same reasons.
    2) You can't downvote the hell out of negative post or post you don't like so no one ever find it again as in Reddit .

So yes, for CF team and it's personal guards Steam is a "viper pit". ;)

So you agree with Piccolo what she's been harassed for posting criticism or at least have a point, but think a i'm making a big assumption. You know, i was a part of group with more than 20 members who post active criticism about CF. Now good part of this group is banned, some ppl just don't care anymore. And each thread with criticism gone down in similar manner - flamed and provoked by exact same members with same argument in every tread. Thread started - get flamed and derailed, mods appears, ban some ppl (yeah, not the ones who started flamewar) and close the thread instead of cleaning it or intervening earlier while it still could be saved.

Well, you said that they don't use the Steam Community forums because they wouldn't be able to ban dissenters or downvote posts, and I'm saying that that is a hasty assumption

Ok, point taken. But still, updating your game front page in Steam is common sense. I usually don't run each game i own just to check if where is a new patch or not. And moderating your game community in Steam if your have a dedicated community manager (or 2?) is common sense too.
And thing like "Most of their customers probably use reddit or these forums" is total BS. Everyone i played SB with never ever visited this forum or Reddit because no one besides me was deeply concerned with game development.

Well.....Tiy just said people are starting to ask for refunds. I think if they kept the steam section updated people would feel less like the game has been given up on and would be less likely to ask for a refund.

I can understand semantics and why someone may or may not like to do something, but if it's costing them money it only makes sense that they start addressing it.

I think you make a good point. Steam is where people will buy the game, so it would only make sense that they communicate on that front, too.
