Starbound Steam community

A lot (if not most) of the people buying the game have buy it on steam.
They don't have go on the official site and probably never do it.

Why did you neglect them?
I know, you already have the official forum and all...
but, at least, could you update the steam NEWS?
The last update is the 25 February.
That make people on steam really confuse and they have reason to.

 

Searching would have told you that this topic has come up just a few days ago making your thread a dupe that will only cause more trouble than it's worth.

 

Just adding changelogs on the Steam page like any other competent devs do would be great.

Unlike you, not everyone visits the CF forums all day long and may not have noticed it.

First, yes, I don't have see that.

Second, the "i poke molly about it" is not totally an answer about their communication with steam.
I would really like to know how they see that.
If the moderator want to close the thread fine but I think that would be a good occasion to speak about it...
steam... how they see that... why they don't post on that and all.
I know some answers... but I am "no one".
Say by a dev, the answer would be more valuable.

 

That's what we have the search function for. But then of course YOU don't mention that.

 

It really would not be difficult or time consuming for someone, a dev or trusted community member to copy and paste the changelog onto the steam forum. I expect it would actually save you time, given you wouldn't have to waste time dealing with threads where people are complaining about Steam forums being neglected.

They now have hired a second community manager - no idea why they can't take care of this themselves.

 

Without getting into "they should" or "they shouldn't" or "they can" or "they can't"...
In general, I think it would be a very good thing if the devs were to update the Steam News, even if only providing a link to the news articles here. However, if this requires a significant amount of effort, then I would say that molly spending more time on visas and immigration and maybe even hiring new talent would be more important to me than Steam news.

I see this as Steam News updates = more visibility/attention/hype. More people will know the game is being worked on and that they might want to check out the new content.

At the same time, if their dev process is slowed down by their relocation, then it might not be a good thing to get more visibility and raise expectations when they cannot meet them. That would just lead to disappointed players. If they said "Well, May is going to be a rough month, why don't we start up the visibility efforts in June, once we're back up to full speed?" then I think that would be a reasonable course of action, even if it is a bit disappointing in the meantime.

 

Why anyone would bother with that place is beyond me.

I do NOT blame CF at all for ignoring that cancer filled pool.

 

Yeah why the hell should CF bothers with the platform most its customers use.

 

Exactly, its a waste of time putting resources to keep SPUF up to date.

Which I honestly hope they never do.

 

Most of their customers probably use reddit or these forums.

 

I can't speak for all steam users, but personally when I see a game on steam which interests me, I like to check the forum to see what the community is like. Some games do actually have a good community, with members posting bugs, helping each other out and so on. But if all I see are threads complaining about lazy devs, chances are I wouldn't bother with that game. It just looks really bad.

1. If you have enough time to create a forum account and post here, surely you'll have enough time to look at the front page?
2. People don't usually bother with the news as it's only progress updates. Changelogs however are there right when you launch the game.
3. Be patient.
4. Finish your sentences. That last one especially.

Quit using the forums to vent on. Starbound's not your life, you're not dependent on every word from the mouth of Tiy. Go play something else while you're waiting. I heard Cubeworld's getting a major update soon.

Err... zugz? The launcher for Starbound shows the changelog for the most recent update, as well as a link to the rest of them. I don't really know what else to say other than it's not necessary to fill the Steam page with changelogs, cause you'd have to be blind to miss them on the launcher.

EDIT: This may not be the case with pirated copies.

EDIT2: You don't need to be completely transparent to deliver a competent game. Take Elite Dangerous, for example. One game besides Dwarf Fortress that I would highly recommend.

I am a here since before the launch and I try to do constructive criticism post. I am also aware of all the updates.
I am not here to troll or make hate. I just think there is 3 place of information
about the update and the THREE of them should be updated. That make sense, isn't?

3. I just make them remember to update it and ask them what they think about the communication they should (or not) put in steam.

No. I just ask why they don't put information on steam (I know molly is suppose to be poke by ordonna about that) and their opinion about steam
