Starbound Sport?

I love the fact that you can get a ton of different instruments and play together with people, but what if they added more cooperative things? Like maybe adding a football you can throw to other players that try to catch it, you could make soccer fields and kick soccer balls. Idk about you guys but i think that'd be a pretty cool addition for multiplayer. Thoughts and ideas for multiplayer activities?

 

There could be Sport Techs.

I'm imagining left click to catch a ball, click again to throw it, F to swing a bat. Ect.

Dodge ball would just be pick up a ball, throw it, don't get hit.


I think a lot of sports could be relatively easy to add and not necessarily any major ordeal.

 

I agree, and i think it would add a lot to the multiplayer realm and even the building side of the game, making stadiums, basketball courts, arenas, etc.

 

You mean like, Dodge the Bullets?
I play that all the time with NPCs.

Well, they are going to add different pvp stuff. I think CTF was one. A Starbound version of Grifball would be great.
Its not a sport unless people are getting splatted.

there's only one problem I can see is coming up with sports for different races, as not all of them would have the same as humans, but still I don't see why not

 

Inter-species arm wrestling needs to become a thing.
Novakid five-finger filleting needs to be implemented.
Floran-styled raw meat-eating contests need to be implemented.
Apex banana-eating contests are needed.
Glitch-themed jousting needs to become a thing.

 

Maybe a sort of Smash Bro type thing? "Super Bounder Bros"? I mean we already have a good viewpoint with the game being in the side scroll category. Get some of the community's awesome builders to make some arenas then some of the awesome modders to make some sort of arena/terrain regeneration and special weapons and arena tech.

 

How about some quiddich (or however it's spelled)? That could actually work in 2d. It would tax the hell out of the engine though, lots of stuff zooming around


Capture the flag would work pretty well too.

Well starbound used to confuse me because when I looked it up the result was a dance competition.

Also, Dodgeball is already implemented in the game. The only requirement to unlock this is a T10 grenade launcher. You get hit? You're out!

 

Spleef arenas, anyone? Turning small planets into hunger games - style survival arenas would be cool too.

StarBound's official sport should be SUPER DODGEBALL.

 

A real life game we used to play with CB radios. One person would get in their car and go hide, and then key down his microphone. The rest of the players would attempt to locate that person based on the strength of his signal (the closer you get, the stronger the signal). Translated to Starbound, I could see where players need to craft their receivers and then have certain planets that have transmitters buried down randomly inside of them.

The server owner can then turn on the transmitters in the planet they are playing on and the teams go about trying to find the transmitters.
