Dunno if anyone else has noticed this yet. But at the top of the front page a new tab has been added; the soundtrack. I dunno whether this includes all of the songs that are going to be in Starbound... but I can say ONE thing.... that these songs a beautiful... :notworthy:

If anyone happens to have trouble with it working (poor souls), check out this youtube channel  : http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1xzLqKp8ceVjMwJJo5TsRg?feature=mhee

EDIT: Oh, and if anyone didn't know, there's some unfinished songs on Curtis' soundcloud: http://soundcloud.com/curtis-schweitzer/sets/starbound
Just in case you were wondering if there any more songs.

I'll try to wait 'till the game is out to listen to those :3

Thanks for pointing that out Breather! I'll check it out later.

  4. Wuzhles

    Wuzhles Cosmic Narwhal

    "Horse Head Nebula"
    "Mira"
Why do I also get a Mass Effect vibe on the music?

Not saying Horse Head Nebula is a Mass Effect specific thing! But the fact that "Noveria" (where you find a VI called Mira) is located in the Horse Head Nebula is hard to look at without thinking they named it while playing Mass Effect or that it in some way inspired them to name it like that.

EDIT: After a trip to WikiPed I found out what they really are. I am silly.

I want "Mira" to be the background music of my home planet.

Well...some scientist believe, that black holes are wormholes to another dimensions... or...just wormholes to faaaar places. So...maybe...?

I was about to say, "OMG old news theres already a link to that one guys soundcloud sb soundtrack u nub" but then I read the topic and instead would like to say "Thank you for linking to this exquisite collection of Starbound music, most of which has been unheard until now. I greatly appreciate you bringing this to my attention for I would not have noticed this link on my own."

    So, yeah, thanks. :p

Oh man this is fantastic. So far all this music is different from what I've heard on the soundcloud page as well. It'll be nice to have a greater variety of music in the game to prevent repetition.

This is great. There's already like 10x as much music as there was in Terraria. Even freaking Minecraft had more music than Terraria did...when it actually played.

Minecraft music was not really that much music. To me it was occasional ambiance.
But what the hell, you get peaceful, tranquil music playing in the nether.
So peaceful watching lava flow and giant ghasts killing innocent pig monsters...

Some of MC's music was so beautiful to me, that's one thing that pulled me into the game rather quickly. Especially the songs Sweden, Clark, Mice on Venus, Minecraft, Haggstrom, Living Mice, and Subwoofer Lullaby...yeah, I pretty much named off half the soundtrack and all the good ones haha. :)

I, personally, liked every single song in Minecraft.
Except I had to turn down the music volume quite a bit due to the fact that some of them are ear-rape at max...

I personally liked the level of volume Terraria had, and Starbound's ambiance sounds nice, too.

  16. Very nice! Thanks for sharing.

  17. Thanks for pointing that out, I hadn't seen it. I don't go to the main site that much anymore, actually.
Well, I'll give them a listen later.

I just hope that unlike in Terraria, we can actually access the dang options in-game without having to exit the world. It was so annoying to be somewhere deep underground, or in the middle of something, and wanting to change the volume or cursor color or parallaxing but couldn't...what a dumb idea, Redigit...
