I understand why you say people don't want small updates, but you shouldn't disregard them either. The new progression system sounds great, but the smaller things like new guns, tools, or monsters are also things you should try and add.

You shouldn't waste your talents here...you should take your expertise to the large Companies. "Hey Valve, your paying to much in rent.... Afghanistan has growing infrastructure and rent is really on the cheap. What do you say? do we have a deal?"

Most of the feedback concerning the need for more dire updates were constructive, many people just prefer to act as fanboys and are far less useful to this community.
Saying good job over and over did not help the devs as you can plainly see by the dwindling community. Just saying.
This new plan of more important updates should've begun much earlier, alot of people have given up.

Not sure what universe you live in, but have you seen the game version? It's not even finished by far so yes, since we PAID, we are entitled to receive a full game by means of updates.

I'm pretty sure they were talking about updates in terms of news and what's happening, not actual content updates. Might be wrong though.

They are connected, hell, no offence, but Notch was a 1 man team for a long time and he did it all with Minecraft.

Having seen Minecraft from the very start, the two aren't comparable. Minecraft was an out of the blue hit with no previous hype train, and frankly it was a disgusting mess for the longest time. Not to mention Notch has pretty awful PR skills.

I know, was just trying to clarify the context.

Keeping us informed (as customer/backers/contributors) is just a sound decision, they're not obligated to do so, but it's a high reward, little to no cost scenario.
Content updates were promised as part of the pre-order, including the finished product, they are legally bound to deliver those.

And Banished and Maia could also be used as examples of a single creator with progress.

Messy yes, but it worked, and his PR skills weren't bad at all, we constantly received updates (I was there from the start too).
Another game I played recently is Banished, and as Wurmheart said, it's also a one man team who gets the job done.

Basically, ChuckleFish doesn't have excuses, others have done it with less.

At this point I'm sure that option, even with the summary execution penalty for illegal emmigrants there, would be better than trying to navigate the EU's red tape. At least it would make going to work in the morning a true adventure.

Worked? You and I have very different memories of Minecraft. Hell, I remember where fence posts were considered dangerous because they were so buggy, and there were no such things as mobs in multiplayer. In terms of PR, it consisted off possibly features and promises that rarely got carried out.

Though, I'm not sure what argument you're trying to make, I've been one of the advocates for regular communication from the developers, my point was Minecraft isn't a very good example, and for every Banished, there's a Cortex Command, which goes months without so much as a peep, and Maia hasn't had any updates (least not on the main site, which is what we're talking about here) since January.

Also, we're talking about entirely different games, with entirely different team structures, if anything having a one man development team makes it easier to communicate with your audience, since you essentially know everything there is to know about what has, is and will happen with the game, so stating that others have done with less is a moot point. Again, it's not comparable.

Have you ever wondered why developers don't often comment on the developmental styles of other developers unless we are looking at a colossal brain fart?

    Just saying.

    See? Context.
You paint an extreme portrait that just doesn't accurately reflect the actual state of the community, just one very small part expanded to encompass everyone.

Some of us enjoy being knuckleheads. Don't knock it 'til you've tried it.

Besides, I have this good idea. It's a good idea, and I believe in it, so clearly, everyone else believes in it and agrees with me. They just don't want to clutter up the thread with "This" posts and likes, so they haven't shown up yet.

It's kind of annoying that anyone who supports CF and doesn't actively complain about how they run their own company is automatically a fanboy. The word is thrown around as carelessly as hipster. People lack originality, and use stupid name-calling conventions in a pathetic attempt to order and structure their worlds.

Tiy's update was obviously addressing a concern not for "fanboys" but for ceaseless bitching about how often CF ought to update us on the game. He wasn't talking about limiting constructive feedback, he was addressing the ongoing concern about how CF isn't showing us constant signs of progress. People log on to this site daily looking for evidence that ship upgrades or whatever will be in the mail tomorrow, then "constructively" complain that CF is too busy moving their stuff into an office to complete the game.

    I am confused.
My comment is saying that there is a lot more than fanboys and criticisers in the community and the habit of lumping everyone in to extreme sides. I think you are saying the same thing too, but angry at me for some reason
