At face value, a centralized transport/economic hub seems pretty sound. I'm sure there could be better locations, but that would involve cost-based analysis requiring time that CF doesn't have right now.

The savings would most likely be in communications infrastructure being sound , meaning the satellite personnel can be reliably reached( alternatively, 3rd rate communications would mean suuuuuck VoIP ), the local staff would be able to reach the location easily with the transport grid (shoot. they can probably take the underground/buses right to each others apartments) . Publishers and other essential business correspondence would also be easily accessible .

Short-term, the idea doesn't seem bad at all. Although, the transition could have possibly gone smoother though. To be fair, problems could arise since there would be minimal staff left to overseeing implementation, but developing material in advance could have been posted in the unstable branch.

(Greater) London is very expensive, I lived and worked there for 14 months but had to return to Belgium because it just is too expensive living alone there for common people.
I know many people there whom I befriended and even to this day they're struggling hard with bills, and they need the counsil to survive.
The other problem is the state of the houses you rent there is quite bad honestly, not to mention the massive rent for a house that would fit a 3d world country often.
Mould, virmin, even in the cleanest houses is common, which was very annoying to me the first months I lived there.

It's a different story for game companies though, they can afford this, but it still is very expensive.
Now the upside to London is that if you afford living there, it is truely magnificent, it truely is a great city in a great country. For companies London is great.
I miss it badly still and I've left England 10 months ago.

It's a good quote, but like most quotes it becomes cheapened when used out of context.

Constructive criticism is welcome on the Starbound forums and is quite common if you look, the problem is those who don't understand what that is.

You've got my support, Tiy! Keep doing what you're doing! Also, tell everybody over there in the dev team I said hi and good luck!

In the dark for so long, haven't been here. But good explanation, even though I never bothered to go on with my current setup until now, it's always good to know the reason why delays are happening. Keep up the good work, Chucklefish!

P.S. I'm fairly sure the ones whom complain only play the game when new content comes out.

I can not wait at all for this update. It's like waiting for the beta all over again...

Why do people feel the need to be critical? It's still in the beta stage. Just keep up the good work!

That is a reason why they do updates. However, they are not legally bound to do so is what I mean.

The only things that they are legally bound to tell us is additional charges or changes in release dates (since this is a pre-order). They only have to notify us before the change happens (within 24 hours I believe).

    You kind of did.

They are NOT (essentially or otherwise) obligated to give us updates. They FEEL obligated to give us updates because they are a great company that cares about their customers.

I said they essentially are. Show me the part were I said they legally have to. Oh wait.... I didn't.

As a company you would essentially be obligated if you wanted to be successful, as a publisher they want to make themselves look attractive so being known as the company that "took the money and ran" or "did not fulfill promises" is bad. Image is also a important aspect.

They are not legally bound to give us updates, therefore they have no obligation to give us updates.
They have said that they would try their best to keep us updated, however that does not make them obligated to give us updates.
They said that they would give us larger/smaller updates, however that does not make them obligated to give us updates.
They said they would give us daily/weekly/monthly updates, however that does not make them obligated to give us updates.
There is nothing that obligates them from giving us updates. They are not even legally bound to give us updates.
I was giving a scope as to why they are not obligated. "Legally" tends to be the most severe and absolute, so I pointed it out that way.
    How did I contradict myself?

Again, quote me on the part on when I said they are legally obligated because I never said that. And using it against me will do nothing.

If Chucklefish wants to be a one hit wonder they can do that. If they want success they are obligated. Plain and simple.

First of all, don't lengthen the post like that. It's annoying.

Second, oceans will come when the devs add it. It's been taken out for gameplay reasons (nothing to do).

I never said you DID say they were legally obligated. I am pointing out that the are not obligated in any way, shape, or form. Even legally.

You don't have to update your fans in order to be successful. You update for good PR. In the end, the product sells itself. Good PR sells it more effectively. CF is being nice and trying to keep their customers updated on the status of their product/company, not because of some sort of obligation.

And I stated I'm not talking about legality, you kept spouting that at me as if I said it and you needed to counter it. So I'm telling you I'm not talking in the legal sense.

Also what do you think good PR is? Not updating fans? Being nice has nothing to do with updating and updating has everything to do with good PR.

Show me a company (can't be a indie with only one game in development under it's belt) that has succeeded by not updating.
