For those of you waiting for updates I encourage everyone to check out the different mods there are for starbound. The developers are working on some pretty awesome things and some of the stuff that's already out there is incredible.

Of all places you could choose to move a small game developer team to, why London?

Because they have always been in the UK?

In my experience, London really isn't cheap. Maybe it's because Tiy's from the UK? There's probably a better reason... Beats me, anyway, nice place!

Most places in UK aren't cheap. But if memory serves, most of the staff lives in or around London. So by relativity, it is the cheapest due to conservation of travel. There may be other factors, but we don't know them.

Because tiy lives there already. and perhaps they like london.

You can easily find out where everyone else is from, just google them. It's usually on their twitter/linkedin pages.
Ashton is British, not sure if he also already lives in london though.
    Bartwe is Dutch.
    Legris is Swedish.
    Armagon is Australian.
GeorgeV, Kyren, Molly And Omni are from the US.
    No idea about Rho.

And i didn't check up on the contributors, but i also don't know how important they are.
At least they're going for a multicultural aproach, i suppose.

Ow man, risk of rain seems incredibly low. And i thought it was pretty well liked....

Wanderlust and Risk of Rain aren't Chucklefish-developed games either. They're published by them, like the others. Starbound is the only one actually developed by Chucklefish.

no, risk of rain too !? it s surprising, but ok.
I suspected for wanderlust saw how it was announced.

I know, but he is very close to London. (the Netherlands isn't that big tbh)
And he can still chime in easily via skype this way with just a 1h time difference, opposed to the rough 9 hour time difference between usa and the Netherlands.

I'm just taking a guess here, but it could be because Tiy was already living in/near London, so it's most convenient for him. Head developers can be selfish if they want to be, if they can afford it. And honestly who can blame him if he has friends and family in London that he doesn't want to move away from. It kinda sucks for the rest of the developers, but for the community to question the actual location instead of the reason for moving together in one place is more than a little unreasonable, well unless they decided to rocket off to Mars perhaps.

Not surprised to see the numbers of people playing each of these games falling. Risk of Rain and Wanderlust are very niche games, and in my opinion bad games, but thats just me. Starbounds decline is for another fairly obvious reason, it's because people are getting bored with it in its current state, but once it is filled out a bit, especially with server features, we will see a sharp increase in the number of players probably even going beyond it's previous maximum.

Ah well then that gives us a good idea of time zones.

Which means half is in europe the other half in the US.

With the US, you've got 4 time zones, each split by an hour. So depending on where they are it's a difference of 7-10 hours between from US to Britain time wise. Then there's Armagon in Australia which another 7-10 hours from Britain in the other direction. So there's a definite timezone discrepancy between the teams.

So assuming the amount of people. The most stereotypical suggestions are London, New York or Los Angeles, assuming we go by most prominent major cities. (Not mentioning Sydney cause that's just not viable from an easily discernible stand point)

Now London has the highest cost of living, it's somewhat higher than New York, much higher than Cali.
New York has the highest rate of office space leasing (I already knew this cause I've lived in NY)
and LA has the highest residential rates

So there are obvious pros and cons with each.

So it may well fall down to a matter of preference, or bureaucracy. And the latter's pretty bad on US's part.

Course I personally would say go with Sweden, cause you really can't be better off anywhere else in the world.

Community complaining that the community is complaining, ah the irony .
If it's only praise they wanted to hear, they wouldn't have a community.
Here's a quote to remind you people:

Anyway, I'm actually happy ChuckleFish focuses more on the important updates now, haven't played the game in months now, and I'm anxious to see the next update.

Feels like many people are like that now. There seem to be all that much going on around the game, while it might be something going on. As for me, I'm launching the game every now and then, and see if my FPS improved. And thats pretty much why I'm not playing it for some time :p
