The reason they shouldn't do this is due to it would increase the work they have to do when updating new patches and what not. Until they are in a comfortable place with the stuff they want to add on their own this would only cause more issues in the long run. The exception to this is if someone created something that they wanted to add to the game, such as the rails. Right now though its simply best for them to work on what they absolutely want in there and let the community take care of the patching on its own.

    Reconsider focusing heavily on progression.

Firstly, because it will never be enough. These people skip through the game's content to get the best stuff and complain when there's no content because they skipped it all. They will constantly want better and stronger weapons and items, and more monsters to skip on the way to getting those better and stronger weapons and items. You can never develop faster than they consume, and they will move on when they're done, leaving you with a huge mess of tacked on ideas and vertical scaling that act as barriers to new players.

Secondly, because this isn't an MMO. Those locusts have already paid for the game, so you guys gain no benefit by trying to keep them. Let the progression crowd come and go (they're going to go no matter what you do anyway), and focus on keeping the creative players. Focus on keeping the explorers.

Pretty sure you inherently have to be a douchebag from the beginning in order to pull a Phil Fish.

“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time. But you can never please all of the people all of the time.”

Tiy, just stick to what YOU know is best for Starbound.

I disagree. There will always be those who will rush to the finish line, but not everyone who likes a progression system is like that. I enjoy slower progression, and I know a great many who feel the same way. It is not the destination that matters, it is the journey. Creative types will never run out of mods to add to their game to give them more and more options. Progression systems are a lot harder to do well, and most mods will not be good enough.

Life goes much smoother when you can sit in the same room as the person you're working with!

So when do we get the wiring bug and world wipe bug fixes in that list of things to come in the next big update?

Ok thats cool and all and I can understand why everything is so slow.

But when will this game get good?

I don't understand how a well sized team cannot output more results. I've seen several other indies working alone, making much much more progress in a month than this game has gone through in half a year. I remember the kickstarter where promises were made on when this game would be fully developed. Nothing is happening and I'm sorry I threw money at you. If there was a way to retract my support for chucklefish and get my money back, I would. I'm done with chucklefish and its lazy dev team and empty promises. At least you won't see me around here anymore as this will be my last post.

First, I'll start on a lighter note. As a consumer, I'm satisfied with the product. It's progress is still continuing, and the quality isn't bad either. As a spectator of this forum, however, I'm losing faith in CF's community and management :

Guy gives legitimate feedback. He feels that status updates on the game content are being given less priority than idling the community with updates on Chucklefish's logistics and infrastructure.

Does he get corrected politely with the community's positive cheerful candor they share for what can honestly be viewed as just idle chat for the progression of the company? Do they refer him to other sources of information to enlighten him? Correct him? Hold his hand and walk him to another answer?

They patronize him and twist his words with a tragic sense of false superiority.

What response do we get to address this?

To be fair, I don't really know what Tiy did and did not read nor do I know what is happening from the lead development's perspective. This just looks very awkward being on the same page.

Now lets see how the community is continuing to be helpful and understanding to their fellow gamers?

So the solution is to not read comments and shut up if it doesn't have anything to do with praising CF's announcement? Sounds like some people don't have much faith in Chucklefish's ability to handle criticism ( I pull this perception from the complete lack of regard or respect for the OP's opinion).

    More?

Surprisingly, this response was fairly close. Litagano here actually gave a recommendation to look at previous posts. Unfortunately with the same caliber of constructiveness we are so critical of, he doesn't link or cite where Mr. Hanfree should look.

I'm not going to go into the Mistreatment of Digitized Soul or other posters, since it appears to be more of the same, but this whole issue was addressed in another thread . Great way to throw away 9 pages of feedback for community correspondence. Most of this community is just troll fertilizer at this point and to post anything other than ad-a-boy comments is probably pointless at this point. Kinda disappointing.

By the way, this isn't an invite for trollbait. I use these quotes not as a personal attack, but a gauge of community correspondence, and it is disappointing. This is my opinion and I could care less if anyone thinks otherwise .I submit this is only from my perspective. If you really want to impress or change my perspective, try FROM THIS POINT ON to challenge yourselves with the task of actually treating other players with respect and not being a**hats when taking feedback from people who shared a different experience. That would impress me more than a "nuh-uh" quote .

Obviously yes. Why enter a thread if you're not interested in hearing that sort of news?

There won't be news about the game all the time because there's more to it than the game itself.

His post were simply bad and he should have worded it better if he really were "disappointed by the non-game news"
Not really sure why anyone would do that. I haven't seen anyone here being an asshat?

Like i said in another topic, i think its time to adopt strict merge cycles to keep productivity of the project up.

How is that supposed to fix anything when it comes to moving people across countries?

I don't think it's reasonable to expect the devs to even think bout this until after the full team has moved to the UK, and after that happens we should see a vast improvement in productivity anyway. If you have ever moved house before, let alone moved country you would know how stressful a move is, and should apreciate the decline in productivity because of it.
