As for ChuckleFish, keep up the good work, don't listen to the vocal minority and develop the game how you see fit.

 

The people on Reddit have no reason to do that. They get literally every single piece of info as it comes.

 

Do what you guys need to do. In the end, you're making the game and all decisions are yours. We love the fact that you take our input and try your best to make us happy, but do what you think is best. The end result is what matters. The paths you take won't matter, as long as they're headed in the right direction.

I would like to point out, they're not obligated to give us any updates. they do so because they know we want them.
Don't get me wrong, I like having an update here and there. I like getting content patches as well. However, I pre-ordered a game and am part of a BETA from an indie developer. I expect there to be down times and rewrites.
It's only logical.

 

They essentially are obligated to give us updates, it would severely damage them as a company if they become known for giving the middle finger to everyone who didn't deserve it just because they felt a little hurt over what the very vocal (and non constructive, designed to flame etc) minority says (this minority does not include those who are constructive).

 

12-15 year olds tend to get a lot of hate on the Internet, and I think this attitude of "anyone acting immature is obviously under 18" doesn't help at all.

I get that teens tend to be a little...knuckleheaded at times, but not all teens are as bad as the Internet makes them out to be.

 

Seems to me that adults act way more immature, at least on the internet.

 

Yeah, we can be mature too. I haven't made a single post bitching about the game and / or updates. Those who do that are usually adults, who have 'higher expectations' of starbound. They always go all

"LOL I BOT N UNFINISED GAYME AND EXPEC FUL CONTNT CHUCKLFEESH Y U NO GIVE UPDAYTES EVEY HOUR I WAN REFUND ALTHOUGH I DIDN'T DO ANY RESEARCH WHATSOEVER ABOUT THE GAME BEING ON BETA YOUR COMPAJY DOSSAPPONTS ME"

 

Thank for the update. Hope the move went well for everyone and super excited to see how things progress with starbound.

I think you're all doing a great job with your game. No complaints from me.

 

I will say this though...even the tiniest updates..were not daily. Ever? (correct me if you find a daily update back to back).
Patching history is hinting about a weekly rate since beta.
Now its bi-weekly? monthly?
Speed never really bugged me though..
It's promises and failed planning that throws me off.
Also i really like that molly actually apologized in one of her recent posts. That was a honorable move. Thank you molly.
Either way you have my support Starbound. Tiy you have a good team. I think you'll learn alot from them..

 

Been quite a while since I've been on the forums, or played Starbound do to changing circumstances in life.
But the work Tiy and Chucklefish as a whole have been putting in to the development is awesome. I don't understand how people always seem to think that because nothing has been updated in 2 hours (or days, or whatever) that nothing has been done.
Given the amount of work and love the Devs have for this project I assume (usually rightfully so) that because it hasn't been updated that they are working hard on whatever it is they are doing.
On the flip side of my own argument though, I would love little tidbits of information like "We're working on X at the moment, have issues with Y meaning Z"
Obviously I don't expect this to happen. I'm actually quite satisfied with Chucklefish's community interaction, I've honestly not come across a team that has done a better job. But this is what I'd enjoy.

 

The head guy at grinding gear games (path of exile) makes extensive, detailed posts nearly every day. For the 10 mins or less it takes him to make those posts he maintains a lot of interest from not just people playing the game, but also people on hiatus.

 

Some people grow up, others only grow old.

Don't worry man.
You're a designer and so is your team.
One designer can never please everyone.

I personally respect work when I see passion put into it.
You're work has passion invested behind it and oozing out of every idea thrown around. That is a beautiful thing.
To see your team pull together and try to achieve something that was just an idea, a figment of imagination, is already an impressive achievement in and of itself.

While feedback from critics is definitely import and can help improve future designs, I personally take everything with a grain of salt.
I consider their ideas and respect what they say but by no means do I go out of my way to please them.
That would literally take my own essence out of my designs.

In conclusion, I love how the game is coming along.
Just keep doing it your way man.
