Starbound Private Beta Going On Now, Let's Get Excited!

Some of these people ( Salrith, M C, Polar Bear, Baradim for examples) have lower ranks then me, less postings, and yet they appear to be much much MUCH more widely known then I.
I dunno, its interesting to me.
And forever alone.
ON TOPIC: Agreed with most of the things above me.

 

I'm guessing the 'ask and ye shall not receive' situation is going on with this private beta.

 

I'm looking forward to finding out if the game will be colorblind accessible!

 

I guarantee you they planned a private beta from the beginning. You can't release a piece of software without testing it.

Well, you can, it's just a really stupid idea.

 

I think we can reliably say there will be a late December to mid January release. But if that's wrong then I can wait.
I've got the money for it whenever it releases.

$17 in my steam wallet reserved for this game only (That's enough right? They said the price estimate was $10-$15).

Although you should keep in mind I'm Russian. We Russians are stealing software. Everytime. No one can trust Russians.

(To be serious, If I would invited, I would torn apart: I want to do ANYTHING to help this game become even better, but I don't want to ruin my first impression of playing this...
So I'll never ASK to be invited. And yes, IF I would actually invited, I wouldn't say to ANYONE. Nothing personal.)

 

Kind of like how the NCAA Football Series has to be patched for months after it gets released. No betas there (except a terrible demo)

Why is everyone assuming they're picking people from the forum?

 

They were already doing a beta with some friends of Tiy i think.
Also how you expected we not to get closer to release after so many months?

 

I'm guessing they wont pick that much people from the forums, only trusted people. I'd like a lucky name draw for the test but then again, it is probably most likely not going to happen. At least that's a possible sign that Starbound is edging nearer and nearer.

 

Well, I mean, we are the more noisy and nagging part of the Starbound fan-base, so meh.

 

That's just us. I guess.

 

This was my first thought as well. As soon as you release the software to anyone you don't know it doesn't take much for the software to show up on a download site. My guess is that the testing is done with a few very trusted friends.

 

I doubt they're going to use anyone from the forum. Maybe moderators and admins, but that's it. Mostly just close friends whom they know they can trust not to leak the game.

And again, it is a private beta.

@Wyvern: Yeah, that's what I was worried about, people showing tested parts of Starbound. Moderators? Most likely not, even if they are part of the community's staff, I'd doubt they would test it.
