Let's call this what it is: People are angry that they aren't playing the game before the youtube community. It seems that certain individuals have never been around for a game release so allow me to enlighten you. A game releases a day earlier for the press for review, criticism and overall marketing. This of course is followed over the course of commercials, ads in game magazines and viral marketing with twitter, facebook and yes, famous youtubers. Call it widening the fan base. With that in mind, TB brought up Starbound a year ago and claimed he'd be replacing Terraria with it(starbound) and now, a day before release, he has received an early release to do what Starbound can't without spending tons of money. Advertising to potentially millions. It was not brought on by a spell of 'GIMME GIMME' like some people claim. Youtube is a media site that is free and can reach millions of people at once in the right hand. This means more money in the hands of the developers and more content to the game we enjoy. So call this what it is. A bitter group of entitled individuals too upset to realize that the developers are doing this in the best interest of growth and development. Stop acting like bitter brats and wait 24 hours.
You are still completely ignoring the fact that those youtubers would be making videos NO MATTER WHAT.
I think for a AAA company this might be right. but they are indi and as such they should understand small youtube channels who sturggle to get views. and with this move they just doomed them. (and no i dont do youtube videos. i'm not even registered on yt) and sure i am angry that some youtubers who cant even figure out how a hotbar works (i guess it was BTC, watched some videos yesterday maybe it wasnt him) like they never played a viedeogame before. can play it and the preorder people have to wait
No one can argue with this fact, but people can argue over the fact that those millions of people would still see it even if " Higher Ended People " didn't receive it first.
But that's not the issue. If you don't want to spoil the game for yourself, don't watch it. Have some self control and say "I want to avoid possible spoilers so I won't watch it." and go do something else. You have literally built a mountain out of an anthill because of your personal dislike with Youtubers.
I can't speak for either side of the argument that seems to be going on. But I can give my perspective. Giving it to the popular youtubers equals big near free publicity for them which will turn out potentially more sales. But on the other hand. As an investor, I can't help but feel a deep seated jealousy. I didn't invest the huge amount of money SOME people did. But I did invest a sizable amount myself and wish that I had gotten early access. But it's okay. It's a game, and people need to remember that. Just relax, do some thing else. You're alive after all. No reason just to exist for one thing. And that's my perspective.
lulz at people claiming popular youtubers complained to get early access yet have no proof to back up their claims.
Yeah about the keys they need to send them now or at least start doing it in the next hour... because is a lot of people and can be problems in the delivery and other things... im sure that in the 4th i wont be playing starbound because i didint receive my key and have to wait 1 more day because of some problem..... Happen before with other games i backed...... i hope im wrong... Im so excited ... !!
This is a moot argument in and of itself. If you're a small youtube channel, then you should realize that it's pure chance the other guys got discovered. They capitalized when LP's were a rare thing and only stand on the 'top' due to the following of trends and quantity (not quality) of videos. I'll use an example. Chip Cheezum is possibly one of the BEST LPers out there. Why? Watch his metal gear revengeance LP. It is pure gold. But he is still a small channel. You aren't going to punish an oversaturated, picky, finnicky market by giving free copies to bigger, more famous channels.
And now you are assuming things are you? 1. I have self control, I don't watch their videos. 2. I don't dislike them, but I dislike how they get treated above everyone else, when in fact, I remember one youtuber whom even said this: With this being said they are exactly like us, just trying to make a living in this unforgiving world, and should be treated as such, just like us.
You, again, miss the point. This isn't favoritism, it's marketing. Plain and simple. Also, you say I assume but you're clearly the one with assumptions here.
You just demonstrated that you haven't actually been paying the slightest bit of attention to what people are angry about. The rest of your argument is founded on a faulty premise and any accuracy in its conclusions can only be accidental.
THIS! I have seen this problem way to often: 7 Days to Die strugled one or two days with the keys until everyone had recived one TUG had big problems with the key release Legends of Dawn had a steam release before the kickstarter backers got their keys and there are many more
That isn't the argument that is going on, the argument which is going on is that they've sincerely just demolished all hopes or wills for any smaller communities (Youtubers) to be seen or noticed in the harsh environment which is youtube. It's not the fact that we didn't get first looks, or access, its that they don't tend to their smaller parts of the community, allowing an equal chance for everyone to be known and shown in the community. I mean, you as a person, whom may not be well known whatsoever should have the same and equal chance to allow yourself to be known in a community, rather than it being ran by those with the biggest fanbase or coverage. Also, this ^.
A broad assumption on my part, yes. Even so, it's been derived at this point that it appears to be jealousy and paranoia under the guise of claims to favoritism. Come on, the post from X_angelz_X doesn't simply reek of paranoid finger pointing?
