What is it not right? I don't understand the that argument at all in terms of generating publicity. Consider, Total Biscuit has 1.4 Million subscribers. That's potentially 1.4 million people who might purchase Starbound just from one popular YouTuber. Your hypothetical 80K+ people streaming would require everyone of them to have at least 17 people watch their stream or youtube channel and then purchase Starbound. From a marketing standpoint not really great odds. I can tell from your comment that you don't run or have never run your own business, have you? I am in business for myself and anything you can do to generate massive word-of-mouth, and do so this easily is not a chance any smart business man would pass up. I applaud the Chucklefish team for a brilliantly executed marketing plan. And one which didn't have to eat up a significant portion of the development budget!

Free publicity that could double the amount of revenue to further let the team add on to the game is totally bs. God, why couldn't random nobodies be picked who could potentially leak the game?

No one will disagree with you there, the only reason the Ignorant Youtubers got " early access " keys first was because they whined for it. Like they do with every game that comes out. They want their channels to be known as the ones that have the games, leaving no room or squeezing space for smaller and upcoming youtubers. Also please tell me you are kidding, those damn youtubers will be playing the game no matter what. Use your dang brain.
It's to make people more aware of the game so that more people pre-order it, and so that we get a sneak peak. I personally, enjoy being teased like that.
Hey! because i dont have a preorder badge dont mean that i didint preorder the game! is because i payed for a lower tier (because i dont have sooooo much money like you) for the lower tiers the only reward was the beta and no badge so shut up! Sorry for my english.
While I can't argue with your point, I do feel as if they should've done it in a " Random " first view. Not just picking those who have the highest view base. The reason why I say this is because no matter what, those youtubers are STILL going to be playing the game. Them going about it this way will put it as if " Hey, those are the people you need to view for Starbound " thus giving no room whatsoever for any smaller ended youtube to get his channel out there and the right fanbase that they deserve. (And before anyone comments, no I could care less if my fanbase grew whatsoever, I come to these areas to do giveaways and other things to allow for those who don't have the money to get awesome games like these to get them.)
i guess you missunderstood my post. what i was trying to say is: TB and all the other youtuber would have made their videos anyways and all their subscribers could watch them. but the publicity from all the other sources would add up. now they produce spoilers and ruin the chances for smaller youtubers to get the views for starbound videos
A lot of the people who have those videos of early access are people that make videos for fun, not just because they can possibly make a little bit of money from it. They've also been waiting for this game as long as we have, and they get it a day in advance. That's like saying other people shouldn't live because they were born first.
Less than 6 hours to go until the 4th guys. Not that I expect it to happen at midnight. But hopefully the little youtubers who actually need the views will get to play soon too. Hinthint.
