Wow! I'm going to die now......... To get the word out about the game. Lots of people watch them, so more people know about the game!
Yeah.... I accidentally watched Doc and Zisteau's LPs, but after I watched them I realized that I shouldn't, because it'll spoil the fun. I'll be hard, but I'm not going to look on youtube for Starbound videos apart from updates and such.
So, everytime something bad happens to someone in life, just ignore it? Everytime something you don't like comes along, just ignore it? When you like something, and your want to voice your opinion, or how you have distaste in something, just don't do it? I'm sorry, I don't think it's right just to silence people so you don't need to hear their voice. "Ooh, I only want to hear the good things, all the time." is a pretty big blind eye, which is hard to avoid. o _o ------------- I feel kind of lame, because this could have been a good opportunity for me to find new people to watch, but after thinking about everything, it's pretty lame. I kind of got a little lack-luster after watching a couple videos. Darnit all. :c ------------------- Nope.avi There would be a lot that hasn't happened if /everyone/ just lived with lameness.
We basically agree on this - I guess all I can add to that is that it's a reason that doesn't make any long-term sense under even the lightest scrutiny =) I think that might be oversimplifying, but SCREW IT, IT'S 3AM!
or maybe it does! We're both speculating here :whistle: There's down sides to every decision they could've made
First of all thanks Molly for a day early! Aimox they need to give early access to the famous youtubers to get more people buying their game as there are tons of people who doesn't even know about Starbound. Its like an advertising business, there is nothing against us who have pre-ordered the game. They also would love the famous youtubers feedback of their game which will help them allot
That's so amiable, I hate to disagree with it, but SCREW IT, IT'S 3AM! Giving out 4 or 5 copies now, then the rest staggered, starting on Thursday would have had no measurable downside. The only reason this kicked up such a shitstorm was because there were just so many videos all at once. (Also, one of the links the Starbound Twitter posted was worded really unfortunately.) Giving out 4 copies would still have gotten a large LP audience, while leaving some room for the community on YouTube. The rest of the big names would have been up over a period of time, achieving more consistent press coverage as opposed to just cycling through every single video-maker in the same 24-hour cycle. A smaller number of press copies would have had no downside, reduced audience saturation, increased long-term brand viability. These peeps need a new marketing team, dammit! Some long-term thinking!
Now that I've got that douchey bit out of my system, can I get a solid answer real quick: When is the game being released? I see two days from now, I see one day, I see '10 AM in the coming morning'. What do I believe? Who do I believe?
nu nu, im not saying you are wrong... what im saying is that, even tho it seems to you, or me, or anyone that it wouldn't have a downside to give few select copies to some people instead of loads of copies to youtubers, it would, because there are so many people with different thoughts on this, that theres virtually no situation in which noone would complain! not giving keys to any youtuber, you'd have people complaining about lack of videos, giving it to dozens of youtubers (as they did), and here we are, people complaining, if you'd give it only to a few youtubers, well people would STILL complain on your other point: yep, giving copies to all these youtubers took away the chance from any new youtube LPer to get views from starbound, cause they'd never show on the first pages. however, if they got their copies at the same time as everyone, how would that change? the LP's would be posted at the same time, the new LPers would STILL get no front page from it in the long term, giving copies to youtubers now instead of later wouldn't help new LPers at all there's always problems and reason to complain. ALWAYS! ALWAYS 10:00 am - PST (33 hours and 29 minutes from now)
I'm in PST, and that's only nine hours and thirty minutes away. I'm from the future. But real talk, two days from now? Then how come people keep on saying things about a day early and all that?
Why do you give Beta to Youtubers and Streamers but not the die hard fans? I was within the first 10k who bought this game and I feel I deserve this game more than Youtubers who have been following the game for 2 days.
Wake me up when the beta begins, but let me cook dinner first. I've got a hankering for alien steak. n.n;
My thought exactly. Want more players from among the popular youtubers' subscribers? They wouldn't go anywhere if watched those LP videos two days later, because they watch their favorite youtubers regardless those youtubers' position on the search page. And the community (at least a part of it) wouldn't be annoyed. The only explanation I can think of is that the popular youtubers agreed to do letsplays of Starbound only because of earlier access. If so, it's not good for them for being so arrogant. Was it worth it? We'll see.
