Starbound preview at Insomnia Gaming Festival

But it gave early access with their alpha sell, that was a nice one. Liked it, got Minecraft back then for 4,99$ and had some fun to play a bit with the blocks and mine some ore. xD

I would throw Starbound simply on steam with a pre-order option. And the ability to still get a beta acess until releasedate. I guess that would really boost it up. Worked for alot of good indi games.

 

Just finding out about this made me almost cry....................... And its very hard to make me cry.......... I don't.......... I don't know why either.... I guess I'm just heavily upset that beta won't release in the next month or two.... but in the month I'll already have moved into another state and won't be able to download this game if and when it comes out....Guess I'm just on of those few unlucky fellows who won't be able to play until a few months after release or a few years.....

Tiy, if at all possible, if beta is not released after this festival. Demand that the yogscast and all who do a lets play of your game that make a recording, hold that recording back until beta is released or a week after beta release, I really.... really.... HATE massive content spoiling, I am an explorer of games, I went head first into deadspace 3 when I first got it, no vids, nothing, I wanted to master it, and mainly because there were no videos other than teasers, but these letsplayers, they make their living off making spoiling tutorials that rob the experience, and yet are very tempting to watch, this I don't want, I want to experience the glory that is starbound without this temptation.... more so because its these CELEBRITIES that get to play it, and not the MOST DEDICATED fans of this game, I'm not one of those as I haven't spent every waking hour dedicated to starbound, but those who did more than deserve to, and it would grealty make their day rather than having to sit there and watch these people who already made a name for theirselves further glorify their names......... Just..... either prevent them from making a recording to keep the experience of a first time play through when beta is released so everyone is thrown in the delightful fray of having to EXPERIENCE the game for themselves, or make them hold the recordings back.......... please........

Or have them let someone little like Ockpii do a lets play as well rather than these big named celebrities? Why not give the little guys a chance?

 

Or, Like i've said before, Let everyone get the game at the same time, not just four or five people who do youtube videos, then when EVERYONE gets the game they all make their videos. And who knows, maybe one person no one has ever heard of makes a good video sooner than the rest and people watch it since it's the only one around and suddenly "Hey, this guy's pretty cool too. I wonder what other videos he did". What's that? A fair shot to everyone? No, We can't have that.

 

After reading each and every post on this thread (yeah, I should be revising xD), My heart sank more and more, realizing that we will not get the beta for this summer, I was really hoping that once exams were done, I could kick back, and no-life this game I've been waiting over a year for! And my opinion on Yogcast doing a lets play before the beta., its just stupid! It doesn't give us a ''little sneak peak'' at the game, its ruining it for us, Yogcasts strong point is not subtlety. Its just crushing every little Youtubers chance of making a lets play without being called a ''Yogscast fanboy''.

I beg of you Tiy and all the other developers, if you are going to let these Celebrities play Starbound before the beta is released, make them hold back the footage.. Think about all the people here who have watched and support the development, and not how known it will get it. Have faith in the 50000+ people who have gotten you this far. Reward us.. Not the famous people...

Haha. Well I'm a college student who sometimes doesn't do school during fall or spring. Where has the order in this world gone to?!

Honestly, it doesn't bother me so much that the beta could be out in Q4 of this year. The thing that would really rub me the wrong way about this is if some random Youtubers get to play the game before the community that has been supporting Starbound for a year+ now. If it's anyone who deserves to play this game before anyone else, it's us, not some random Youtuber who may or may not be following this game.

I don't know, it just rubs me the wrong way. That's all. If the beta isn't out by this festival and some random Youtubers get to play it first, I'll be... disappointed.

All I care about is that it comes out before I lose interest in it (which will take a long time) and that when it comes out its really good.

 

Man, I used to be uncomfortable with this kind of stuff, but I just let it slide now since it really doesn't do anything in the long run. If you for some reason can watch a dev work on and play the game in a stream and a few people plunking around on it for an hour is really going to upset you, perhaps you can just skip on watching it and worry about bills or something more worth worrying over. Free advertisement that's as super focused as a gaming group promoting a game is hard to pass up, especially if it helps keep the company afloat by expanding the game's potential audience. I'd like for Chucklefish to expand, and so long as they aren't dealing a stolen baby black market or selling drugs (outside of Starbound, naturally ) then I'm for any means they see fit.

Usually you don't have to bring your work home with you, like you do school. People that work are still able to game. Maybe not as much as people who have nothing to do, but not many people have nothing to do.

 

Personally, the only reason I am kinda bummed is I have been following this with quite a few mates for the past year, keeping in touch with what is going on and the likes. I saw last year around august that Starbound was coming out around Christmas, since then there have been a few bump backs with little explanation as to why (There is probably information somewhere that I have missed). I'd rather see this games bugs ironed out and such like the rest of us. I think beta stages of the game are supposed to have bugs and glitches that are to be looked at, is that not why it is called beta? Anyway, the game is looking awesome, and I am well looking forward to smashing out some SCI FI Western Roleplay.

 

Yeah good point, but my point was that ZangooseSlash said that most of the gaming community goes to school and I would have to agree with that on-the-spot statistic, but I am only saying that if that's the case then most likely half or near half of those people are in college, who can choose to go to school during summer to get their degree faster. So summer isn't free of school. Like he said it was.

 

You do have a good point but that might just be for pure advertisement and beta will be out sooner than that date.

If the beta is ready before or for insomnia WE WILL GET IT WHEN IT'S READY if it's ready next week, we'll get it, regardless of Insomnia. Chucklefish aren't holding out on us when the beta is ready, we get it, if it's not ready by insomnia, the team will put together a demo for those at Insomnia. That's all. /thread
