Starbound penguins!

Is anyone else excited about starbounds penguins? I have a friend who pre ordered starbound because he saw a screenshot of penguins in starbound. Are you guys excited about the Penguins/critters in starbound? I know i am.

no i personally think the penguins are pretty immature but thats just my opinion

 

I love the penguins. I especially like the mockup screenshot of penguins in various 'styles' - I really hope that's still a thing. One of them looked like a kappa? (Though, those are supposed to be turtles, not penguins... whatever! They're cute!)

Though, I've been wondering what their deal is. They're part of the first boss fight, but WHY exactly? And supposedly we'll be able to interact with them as regular NPCs.... and really, that opens up tons of other questions - like other, non-playable races in the galaxy. Will there be penguins and frog merchants and the like? It's all really interesting to me, despite the initial cuteness.

 

The penguin final boss was a placeholder boss and will likely not be in the actual game, at least as the tier 1 boss. (Might be like a miniboss or maybe a summon/event boss or something if not completely scrapped.)

 

The Penguins were the entire reason I donated for Silver Tier. I wanted that Donor Icon with the Penguin.

 

Oh I love em. They remind me of GURPS: Technomancer's Communists Penguins.

I don't get the whole penguin thing but I like it.
And I like penguins.
Also I hope I can enslave them all and force them to work for me! Muahahah!

 

If I am excited about something in starbound than it's not penquins for sure they are nice and all but the game is not about them. I thing poptops are more exciting than penguins

 

I will wipe them out solely to own that crown, yes I am a terrible person.

 

I like the penguins. I'm going to give them all names. Although, they'll all end up being called Gunther, so the exercise may be a bit pointless...

 

I don't care about the fact that they happen to be penguins, but I loved the first boss they showed at I-49.

Tons of slow moving projectiles from all directions, forcing you to dodge around while considering whether you want to attack the penguins or the mother ship? Very nice for an easy tier 1 boss. The animations for the actual penguin soldiers was also very nice. Now, apparently the penguins are actually space pirates, but I hope that they aren't always necessarily hostile. It would be really cool if you could join their faction so-to-speak and accept silly little quests from the penguin overlords, and eventually become their emperor yourself.

 

I think I made them when I made the mockup of that arctic planet. Then they grew into something bigger.

Anyways the penguin UFO boss is probably not going to stay Tier 1. It's clearly designed for ranged weapons (hitting it with melee is tough) and ranged weapons won't be largely available in tier 1 if at all. I made it for an upper tier and designed it as such. I wish the i49 one was fully functional so it could be seen how much more crazy it can get.

 

Oh cool, so we can expect a Boss on the ground then instead or with an attack pattern that we can actually hit it with a melee weapon more easily, nonetheless I am looking forward to it.

 

Aw, that's a little disappointing. I'm a big fan of bow-and-arrow type stuff. Ah well! Something to look forward to later on. On that note - I hope there'll be high tier bows I can still use viably. Guns are fine, and it IS a space game, but...
