Starbound or Blackopps2

There was a great comic that i read once it shows two guys walking into eb games they see a final fantasy poster behind the desk and say " why do they keep making thoes games, There just the same over and over again." so then the person working theres says " And heres your version of call of duty 12. Have a nice day."

I have a very odd opinion on Call Of Duty. I have played once. And I quite enjoyed it honestly. But I think that yes it is super over rated and completely repetive but yet still I hate it when people go against Call Of Duty over and over again for the exact same reasons. But in all honesty I'd go for Black Ops 2. Why? As all my friends would be playing it. But still I think Starbound will be better.

 

My enjoyment of the COD series has continuously decreased since COD 4. I can only play for about an hour until I say to myself "I can't do this anymore." It's just the repetitiveness of the maps because they are all the same: same small enclosed area with a bunch of crap, rubble and ruins in the center of the map.

 

Don't forget the people blindly throwing grenades over the top as soon as they spawn too. I do have to say cod is pretty fun doing 2v2 split screen with a bunch of friends though

 

Sincerely futuristic seems a bit different from what i am used to get from CoD, so yeah Blops2 probably, even though i will play starbound a lot more, i like Online FPS's with friends

 

I figured it was useless trying to convince people to be unbiased about unreleased games on an internet forum. Thanks for confirming my suspicions at least.

I don't know if I'm more annoyed at the fact that people are already saying Black Ops will be bad or the people who say Starbound will be good. We've barely seen anything from either game- either one could turn out to be terrible, or good, or so-so. Yet people seem to praise Starbound like its the best thing since sliced bread and bash CoD simply because it's popular to do so.

I'll wait for the games to be released before I judge their quality, thanks.

 

you see, there are people who have been waiting for another good CoD for years. because in fact, there were some good CoD games in the past, such as CoD1, CoD2 and the somewhat different but still very good MW1 and WaW. so the chances aren't bad that there will be another good CoD in the future, right? wrong! MW2 was complete garbage when you looked at the balancing. i could list every balancing flaw in this game, but i suppose it wouldn't fit into one post, so i won't even bother. strangely, the game could still be fun at times.
then, black ops was released. black ops was supposed to make everything better that they did wrong with mw2. and even though they really managed to get rid of nearly EVERYTHING that was imbalanced in mw2, the game was the worst crap i ever had the "pleasure" of playing. no idea how they managed to pull that off. the entired game was a complete failure. they even managed to completely butcher the completely awesome zombie mode from WaW.
after that, mw3 was released. i knew i wouldn't buy it, and didn't even bother watching trailers or reading reviews, because the series was already dead to me. untill the free weekend on steam that is...
on said weekend, i downloaded the game to see what bullsh*t they came up with this time. i was anticipating the WORST, but mw3 was even worse. despite the fact that the whole game was blatantly recycling models, textures and even the whole interface elements from previous CoD games, they really somehow managed to combine EVERYTHING that i hated about MW2 and Black Ops into one tiny crappy game.

now Black Ops 2 can't possibly be as bad as MW3. that's just completely impossible. but do you really think that this game might be good after all those sorry excuses of a CoD game?

well, a game worse than mw3 is beyond my imagination. its like thinking about a universe with an extra dimension, the longer you think about it, the more your brain hurts, and you dont make any progress.
at the end of the day, you still dont know how said universe would look like.

 

I'm don'd want to get into an argument over this but calling them worthless and a complete failure is a bit over the top. You're entitled to your opinion but even you surely can't believe that they're the worst games ever made? You're telling me you'd rather play this than COD? Sure there's not much innovation between each one, and there's a lot of cod fanboys that think anything cod is 'l33t', but there's a reason they sell so well. When it comes down to it they're well made games and most of them are fun to play. Nobody is forcing you to play them or buy them so just let other people enjoy playing them and don't waste your energy bashing the hell out of an already dead horse subject.

 

Personally, I pick Starbound, not because of the "too many COD games" thing, but because it's very similiar to a game I used to love.
I mean, both games are great. I remember those lovely after-noons playing MW2, with campers all over the place. But, I had fun, that's what's important here.
Starbound seems rather interesting, from what the devs said, because "Starbound" is going to be a "sandbox" with a history, which is not "That" common.
So, in other words: Both games are great, i'll purchase them both, and god prevent me from just knifing the crap out of every camper in every corner from above =)

 

well, i guess i didn't word it right.
maybe the latest CoD games are not the worst games ever (even though your example doesn't even really show a really bad one). but whenever i think about the current CoD, it makes my heart bleed, because in my opinion, the old CoD games are still by far the best games i played, and i really played a lot games in my life.
you are also right that people are having fun with the game and i am not forced to play them. however, there is a difference between "not playing a game because you find it bad" (f.e. any random pixar-movie-to-wii-game-port) and "being forced to stop playing because someone scrapped it" (which is what happend with the CoD series to me).
so, to answer your question, yes i would rather play the game you mentioned than CoD. in this case, i could have fun with the game because i never expected it to be good. instead, i could laugh about how bad it is. but i cannot laugh about how bad CoD is, i just find it sad.

TL;DR
to me, a bad game is not one with bad graphics, or a stupid story, or underchallenging gameplay elements and a lack of innovation. (which happens to be the case in CoD, btw)
to me, a bad game is one that doesnt live up to its potential.
and to me, this is CoD in its current state.

 

Well sorry invading this discussion but, dont you think a new game made be the devs of WaW could be innovative for CoD? obviously when talking about CoD we are talking about inumerous rehashes of a single game (See MW1,2,3) but made by treyarch and in a completely new way in the franchise (futuristic) you could expect at least something about this?, but of course we are talking about cod so yeah, or they shit all over us with an stupid horrible new game, or they make something rather decent as MW1 or WaW

 

I cant believe that 6 people chose CODBO V2 Over starbound.
Either way, starbound over any Call Of Duty.

 

Without a doubt Starbound. Now if this were a thread between something like Borderlands 2 or Secrets of Grindea and Starbound that'd be a harder decision. I'd still be getting this regardless of when it comes out because it looks like they are really putting a lot of effort into making this game awesome.

But CoD? lol the folly.
