Starbound on Steam Greenlight

Salutations, awesome developer folk. Steam Greenlight is officially launched: http://steamcommunity.com/greenlight/

Games are voted upon to see if they will be released through Steam. I'm not sure if Starbound has considered a Steam release, but it would be an INSANE amount of public awareness for the game if it was shown on Greenlight with a video detailing the AMAZING amount of content currently developed (and more in the works!).

Just a suggestion. =)

they are finishing some content to prepare some videos


and from what i know, steam greenlight will work like kickstarter, you just don't need to donate i think, but it's a good way to show your game if you are a indie developer

 

The people behind Steam would be a total dunce not to put Starbound on Steam. It would be more shameful to see Edge of Space gain more popularity than Starbound...

 

I was thinking the same, they did say they wanted a steam release, but isn't it for finished games only (or almost finished)?

 

Isn't CS:GO still in Beta? How 'bout Dota 2?

Yes, but you have to sign in a short survey to gain access (Pretty much anyone can get in). I also recall Valve saying that buying CS:GO gives you access to the beta.

 

I am confuesed, are we talking about the Steam Store or Greenlight? Cause I meant greenlight in the original post. (As in you have to have a playable and available version to put it on Greenlight)

 

isnt greenlight only for indie games?

CS:GO already released, Dota2 still on beta.
and both are Valve games, so there is no sense if they end up not being on steam

Ah yes, I personally believe they will go for a Steam Release, though the donation spect may be a bit iffy for them. They want it to be popular yet they want to save peoples money for when they buy the game, rather than do it now and have people complain later, an old time technique I rememeber Nintendo employed in its early days with the Famicom and is the sign of good gaming all round -w-

As we all know, a Steam game named Wanderlust was used as an excuse by continued petitioning by fans to donate to the development to the game, although I suspect this is more to vent off pressure to donate to them early off so they can take their time. When this happened Wanderlust Shot to the eight spot in the Top ten games sold, competing with big name fps games (which arent nearly as interesting (to me) to play.

So either way you look at it, Starbound is going to be BIG. They know it, we know it, and Steam by now likely knows it. Its only a matter of time before we get news that it will be released via Steam. -w-

 

Well they already have edge of space on greenlight I hope we can get starbound on there pretty soon.

 

From the sounds of things, people are downvoting Towns because they say it's a Minecraft clone.

I'm just hoping that doesn't happen to Starbound. :C

 

Isn't Towns a lot more like Dwarf Fortress? (or some other predecessor)

 

oh god, some people just don't search and post random stuff (i'm refering to people that says something is a clone of other games, not you)
on the head of those people, nascar rumble must be a clone of crash team race (or crash nitro cart for the newer players)

 

greenlight actually -currently- doesnt have the option for concept. only near-complete.

 

It most likely will get a lot of positive backup on Greenlight. It definitely won't be called a clone due to its awesome art styles and such, but I doubt they'll put it up around now. They'll probably wait a few months.

 

It will be called a terraria clone, most likely.
I myself am hoping for good feedback on my game since it will be up there soon.

 

i think eventually yes starbound will be on steam but they gotta go through the beta process first.
