Starbound on RPS today

Nothing we haven't seen before, but it looks like Craig (the author) is at least somewhat familiar with the community reaction to the Yogsaster.

Edit Note: The game showed well, glad it's going well, don't really care about how the let's players did their thing one way or the other. The intent of the above comment was to point out the tone of the article which was overall positive while subtly acknowledging the way some reacted to the event. Also - I just like the not-a-word Yogsaster. I like words that aren't words. ^.^

 

Well, part of the community at least. Not the whole thing.

Myself, I didn't mind either way.

 

The grammar is bad in some places in that article, but I'm not here to be a grammar nazi.

I don't agree with it. When I read Omni's response to the community questions it only confirmed with I've been thinking all along.

1. I don't want to play some beta where I'll have to lose characters or any sort of game progress because of some update. Omni hit the nail right on the head as far as I'm concerned. I dislike it when I lose time I've put into some game.

2. I want enough content to keep me going for a while, not just a few hours.

3. Stability and balance. I can deal with an occasional crash, but frequent ones or memory leaks- No thanks. Plus, if I'm using an early-game character in an early-game area and I'm getting one-shot-killed then I stop playing. You get the idea. Balance and stability.

...So I still think the Chucklefish team is on track. Think about it. They're already passing some things up because they're pushing for beta release so hard. I mean, unless they're aliens from Star Trek that feed of human unhappiness, then why wouldn't they be in super crunch mode, trying to get that damn beta out?

I would not want to be in their shoes. Sounds like they've got a bit of stress right now.

I appreciate how the article didn't try to critique the Stream, but talked more about the game for people who may not be familiar with it yet.

 

Yeah, i just thought it was a good publicity article. Also the tone of the post suggested awareness of how the forums reacted to the stream, without getting involved directly. Which is good? I'm not even understanding the first quoted post. n.n;

 

If you're referring to my post then you'd have to be a little more specific about what confused you. Otherwise, there's not much one can say.

What's 'it'? The article? which is basically just a post with the Yogcast video? You don't agree with.. showing a video of starbound? n.n;

Also what's Omni's repsonse to the cummunity questions? Which response? Where? about what?

Then you seemed to be going on about ... people who are wanting them to 'release' the build from i49.. which wasn't part of the article.. or anyone else's post. So it was confusing. Sorries.

That article is meh.

While he's giving positive opinions about the game, you have to reread it because of the bad grammar, and his emotions are making it sound bad. Also refering to starbound as a silly co-op game is false, there's nothing silly about the game just the people let's playing it.

It has it's quirks, but I think he meant silly because the yogscasts performance, not the game. To each their own.
