Closed Starbound not working. At all.

Hello, I'm new to this forum, so I'm not even sure if this is the correct place for a complaint like this, but:
I just bought Starbound, because I think it's fascinating. Unfortunately it is nearly unplayable on my computer. When I activate the game, the launcher comes after a few minutes, but when I try to launch the actual game, I'm greeted by a black screen. Only two time's I've gotten into the game: The first time it was so laggy that it took my cursor five seconds to cross the screen. The second time the game hung up on the character select screen.
My question is: Is there something I can do but wait for the game to come out of beta? Because... well... I would really like to play it!

If your computer is too weak, there's not much you can do other than upgrade. Optimization comes last in development.

Have ya Updated your Drivers lately, especially your Graphics Drivers?

Have ya checked to see if your computer gets real hot as it tries to run the game, & does your Computer have good Hot Air Exhaust & Ventilation?

 

Have you tried booting it in OpenGL mode? That might also potentially help a bit, depending on your PC.

 

It really sounds like your computer can't handle the game in its current state. You may need to either upgrade your computer or wait to see if the optimizations they do to the game help at all.

 

I'm not really much of a software crack, but I'll try... It's a three year old PC running windows 7 in 32, I think. It doesn't get hot or anything, the game just... stops. The thing is, my computer doesn't have any problems with Skyrim or Bioshock Infinite, games I would assume to be much more hard to chew for a graphics gard. Which is an NVidia Geforce Experience, drivers freshly updated.

it takes me too like 5min to start up the game after i click on the launcher

 

Update your video drivers from the videocard manufacturer's site, and try running in OpenGL mode.

If that doesn't work, attach a dxdiag.txt

 

The drivers are as updated as can be. I also tried thze OpenGL thing, didn't help, BUT: In OpenGL there seems to be a slightly better chance for me to actually reach the game.
How do I attach a dxdiag.txt?

 

Start > "dxidag" , after it finishes, Save the results and then attach the file to a post.

At 2gb, your system is at the *bare* minimum needed to run SB.

I'm not familiar with the nVidia control panel. You can try to lower the amount of memory (DVMT) allocated to the videocard, it may be in the nVidia control panel, or the setting might be in your BIOS.

If you can turn the shared memory all the way down, it should at least help get the OpenGL version to run.

You should probably wait until it starts to be more optimized.
