Really. My PC is fairly mid-end, and is above the recommended requirements on the Steam page. I get an average of 40 fps which is decent enough. 60 when there's absolutely nothing but me and blocks.

But when my screen takes up 10+ NPCs? My framerate is screwed. It drops to as low as 10 fps. Similar situations are when I mouse-over the Ruin Gate or when I go to my huge rice and cocoa farm. There are also some unfortunate 5-10 second freezes that happen. If I try to interact i.e ALT-F4, CTRL-ALT-DEL my entire computer will get obliterated.

Let's also talk about that ridiculous latency-ish problem that exists even in single player. I don't even know why Starbound single player is like hosting a server and playing on it. The worst I've gotten is when I was harvesting in my farm and I suddenly got a 30-second delay with all the drops from the harvest. Absolutely ridiculous.

A few years ago when I tried Starbound the performance wasn't this retarded. I can wait for updates and I'm sure everyone else can, but Chucklefish, why would you release something that's obviously incomplete and not ready?

I have not had really any of these issues to this severity and my stuff is a few years old (770, and 3.8GHz AMD 6200). Maybe it is just your components doing something weird? The only issues im consistently running into is the chunks loading in a lil slow if im sprinting which I just take it back to the old minecraft days when that used to be the case too. So its not too bothersome. Either way, I will say that lay off CF a bit about performance because they have released performance updates in the last few patches. Takes time to get things fleshed out with everyone's different components.

I have the exact same issue. Q6600 2.40GHz, 6GB RAM, AMD Radeon HD 6800.

Also havin' that. (Especially the short freezes + singleplayer latency)

Terraria runs good, Overwatch runs good, TERA runs good, Skyrim runs good,...

I thought I would just weigh in and say that I'm having the same problems as you basically. Skyrim, Just Cause, Tomb Raider, all fine. Something about Starbound just kills my computer

I have a GTX 1070, 16GB RAM and an i7, only running the game at 1080p/60hz, and still in 2x zoom things get weird.

3x seems to be a way to go for now performance wise. I technically like 3x better so I don't have to strain my eyes with the tiny details in 2x, but its useful for shooting ahead.

Yep, was looking into this >.< ... GTX 980ti SLI and i7 but in my only underwater base, 14 fps in 2x is unbearable! lol. I guess it's 3x for when I'm in it. Noticed it also bogs down with falling water (when there's a LOT) and tons of torches in a dark area.
