Starbound Music

I would just like to say, the music is amazing in this game. It feels very immersive. I was walking through a glitch village and suddenly this very soothing music comes on that reminds me of being in a town in oblivion, it just felt peaceful.

When I was on an arid planet I heard music that was really badlands feeling. Kind of reminded me of the barrens minus all of the chuck norris jokes.

I am just saying that I feel that you all are doing a very good job on the music, the variety is nice. I would recommend putting music out there that really promotes the variety of a planet. For instance if a planet is all jungle there could just be music that sounds like the Congo or some sh**.

While I am on the topic on sound something that you could add that would add more immersion could be things like in the badlands you hear the wind blowing or if you are in a forest you hear birds tweeting and some weird animal howling in the distance. Just something to think about.

TLDNR: Musics good could be better, add sounds.

 

Agreed. I just wish there was music for the deep underground areas.

I agree, some of my favorite moments in terraria was hearing the music change into really cool music as you go down deeper.

 

Yes, the music is one of my favorite parts of this game. Find an instrument and get some .abc files and mess around with those, that's probably the greatest feature I've seen so far. I absolutely love that we can get instruments and play custom songs in this game!!

 

Oh yeah, I totally forgot to mention the instruments, anyone found any different songs?

 

I would assume the reason behind this is something along the lines of "you're so far down, you can't hear music", seeing as you can still hear the ambience whistling sounds. Sorta like how water muffles the music I guess?

 

I'm sure we'll get some BGM or at least some kind of atmospherically appropriate low key music at some point.

 

Perhaps, but it makes for a lonely mining experience as it is now. I've had to resort to playing the Red Canyon music from F-Zero for now.

I agree that the music is very good. I love it. I just wish there was a better variation of sounds of the monsters. I also would love the mining music. It would just make being super underground more fun.

 

I can't comment on how varied the ABC note system is, but music like that should be entirely possible in the game, tech wise. It would be a lot of work to adapt the notesheet though.

 

I started going underground, screeching monkey thing came out and scared me half to death .-. but, yea, lesser jumpy sounds, more cavey sounds

 

Starbound is one of the only games I know where I heard the soundtrack and went "Damn, that's good stuff."

 

Stuff like that happens to me ALL of the time. I'll be sitting there with my bf and that monkey sound happens, and I scream EVERY time.

 

The composer secretly works for Disney and was the shadow composer of Forrest Gump OST. At least it sounds as good as that.

 

I downloaded a bunch of .abc files off some website, and then when I found an Avian village I spent 20 minutes running around it serenading everyone there with Styx and Guns 'N' Roses songs on my oboe

 

Yeah, I even bought the dlc OST for it it was so good.
