    Linux error.

    $ ./Starbound-Mod-Manager
bash: ./Starbound-Mod-Manager: cannot execute binary file: Exec format error

I received that as well. Your computer will ask you if you want to search for the file for you; do that and install the Python Executable File plug in.
    Edit: The program is "PyPar2"

Once I did that, though, I ran into another problem, myself. Following the directions in the ReadMe file, I ran the Starbound-Mod-Manager executable, used the interface to dig through the folders to the Starbound game folder, and extracted to there. It added a bunch of PAR files/archives to the folder, but the mod manager does not function.

    Edit 2:
I managed to figure it out. Once you download the Starbound Mod Manager, extract it and go to the Apps folder within. You will need to run the "Starbound-Mod-Manager-2.02-jfx.jar" file to open the java interface for the mod manager. Hope that helps.

Depends on where you installed it. By default, the Steam library is located in the Mac user's Library folder.
    Code:
    ~/Library/Application Support/Steam
The Library folder is hidden, so you'll have to find a way in there: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2012853

Wow thank you so much!! I actually didn't expect a reply so thanks!! :D The only downside is that I don't think this version of Mac OSX has the library folder :( Wait never mind OMG thank you so much!!!! You earned my respect for that thanks a lot I would still be stuck without you!! And also, one last question, what happens after it gets t 100%? It just sits there for me. And my very last question (sorry) what all do I include when I type the directory? Do I start with Library or do I start with the Users/Name?

Make sure you have the latest update of Java version 7. The only time it has ever gotten stuck at 100% for me was when I had Java version 8 installed.
Start with /Users/Name and go to Library from there.

I'm sorry I've been quiet around here as of late. I've been preparing for a move (potentially) across the country and there's only about a month or so left before I leave, so all my time has been sucked up by that. I should be able to return to the project in a couple months once everything's settled and I've found work.

Well the best of luck to you then. :)

Indeed. I hope things go well for you.

Quick question: If you're moving and going to be on an (approximately) 2 month hiatus, will there be time to look into a compatibility update for the big Starbound version / patch that's about to be released (assuming anything needs changing)? Just asking.

I've been so out of the loop, I have no idea what that entails. I'll look it up tomorrow. Depending on when "about to be released" is, then an update may be possible (though like you said, if it needs one).

I would assume the timetable for that release is synced to Valve Time, so there's likely no rush.

Anyway, I have a friend who owns the game but hates launching Steam, most likely because the Steam client seems to have a distinct aversion to being used at all and demonstrates this by frequently demanding to update while still barely managing to function. Is it possible to use your launcher to run the game without having Steam open?

Back on an earlier version of the game, I remember launching it through one of the two mod managers I know of because I had a few mods I wanted to use, but this was before compatibility issues were fixed for the most part. I'm not sure if my memory is wrong or that changed, or if it was another manager and if so, I haven't been able to locate its threat again to check so I assume it died.

Any chance of adding the ability to scan for already installed mods and manage them as well

There was the ability to launch the game from the original version of the mod manager, but there were too many bugs with the way I was doing it. I decided to hold off on re-implementing it before adding save file management to get the newer version out earlier. It'll be one of the first things I add when I get back to this.

I, too, found the ability to launch Starbound without using Steam to be a useful feature. Steam does take up some system resources in the background. And my old laptop could barely handle Starbound, anyway.

But then I found a workaround. I created a shortcut to one of Starbound's .exe's and it launched the menu and worked like normal. I currently don't have Starbound installed, or I would give specifics.

Tried the Race expander mods and the Mod Manager is messing it up. It's currently creating a folder in the mods folder called "ModManagerPatch" and inside is assets\interface\windowconfig\charcreation.config" as a blank file. This was confusing so I just uninstalled the both versions (only had 1 on at a time but both were producing this error) Chararacter Creation Mod and Kawa's XBawks-mode Chararacter Creator. Going to install these manually but I wanted to point this out for you.

Also on Ponex Racemod, the Species\ponynamegen.config is being patched with a blank file as well. It seems all config files "patched" by the MM is getting blanks.

The Avali's Spawner animation, default icon png, spawn avali frames, and spawner avali png is getting patched. Going to manually reinstall these files.

I think some of the Ore farming for BetterMerchants mod is going here too.
    Recipes\starter\stonefurnace and Recipes\tier1\metalworkstation
Not sure if anything is wrong with them yet. I'll have to explore that later but figured i'd let you know what the MM is "patching"

Cool, I know several people that will be pleased since their PCs aren't as good as mine and steam is a resource hog.

It looks like the next update will indeed break the mod manager. I'll look at the specifications for the proposed mod merging system in a couple weeks and see if I can update it with support for that.

That's the best ETA I can give for now.

    On the plus side:
It sounds like - if they do go with this new mod merging system that breaks "__merge" (nothing I've read sounds certain, yet) - then they will probably stick with this new method. Like, forever - no turning back. So after this one major change, future updates shouldn't be so difficult.

Also, it sounds like the proposed method should have some nice benefits. That, in turn, might lead to seeing even more nice mods. (Which may make your mod manager even more important and give it more attention. :p)

Just got back from my vacation in California. Should the update hit in the next week or two, I'll be able to create an update for it. After that, I'll (most likely) be traveling again until early-mid August, after which I'll be settled in again and will be able to resume development in full. I've been keeping up with my programming on the side and will be bringing lots of improvements once I return to active development on this project.
