    The mod looks like it should work. Did you point your mod manager to the correct directory when it asked you for it?
    It should be "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Starbound" if you installed it to the default directory.
    If you didn't give it the right path, delete the "database" and "config.ini" files in your mod manager's directory, then run the mod manager again.
    After that, go into Steam and right click Starbound, click "Properties", then go to the tab "Local Files", then click "Verify Integrity of Game Cache".
    That will have Steam check your game's files to make sure everything is up to date and working as it should. Any files that don't work will be re-downloaded.

    I'm sorry about this, but i have followed your instructions step by step, twice i have done all of this and still the same error keeps happening. I re did the mod manager i verified the cache for the game, i deleted the database and config.ini, unfortunatley it just doesnt seem to want to work, i have even tried moving the mod manager to different folders. its been on my desktop and my documents. im sorry about all this trouble.

    Hmm. Have you deleted all of the mods from the "mods/" directory in your Starbound folder and tried running it without any mods installed?

    Just tried it then, i deleted everything out of my mods folder and ran the mod manager. Still the same error.

    If it's Starbound giving you the error, then it doesn't seem to be something to do with the mod manager. After a couple minutes of Googling: http://community.playstarbound.com/...launcher-error-cannot-open-filelogsink.53615/

    ----

    For those interested, I put together a little site that I'll be linking to for version 2, which has OS specific download links. It currently has the past 6 versions of the mod manager and a few version 2 pre-releases (pre-releases will be buggy and lacking features!). I'll be occasionally uploading builds there when I need someone to test something. (And right now I need people to test the site. :p)

    This will eventually contain the mod manager's documentation as well, but that'll come after I'm done coding the whole thing.

    You can find it here: http://krazythefox.github.io/Starbound-Mod-Manager/

    I have it working now, my friend gave me his unzipped better beds folder and i copied that straight into my steam/starbound/mods folder. Was the only way to get it to work.

    yay time to break 2.0! I'll be playing with the windows 2.0.0a-r2 versions, both x64 and x86.

    I'll skip the obvious graphical issues. UI-wise the only notable issue is that the up arrows (^) next to mod names don't actually move the mod up the list (and no log entry either), assuming that's even what they're supposed to do. Clicking and dragging does reorder them just fine though.

    Game dir is detected automatically - good stuff, one less source of errors for the newbies. That is, if it works. My steam is in C:\Steam by the manager decided to use D:\Games\Steam for the path. This is easy to fix in windows builds by reading the registry value located at
    Code:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Steam\SteamPath
    Read here for a few ways to read windows registry from java.

    On a related note, the manager seems to be looking for a modsdir property that is not set anywhere in the settings pane. No biggie since it falls back to default.
    Code:
    Property 'modsdir' not found in database. Using default value: 'mods/'
    Now, test with mods. Adding mods via "Add Mod" works fine and in case of modpacks splits them up into separate zips. Nice! Installing and Uninstalling also works fine. I tried:
    • Madtulip's spaceship mod
    • Variety is the spice of the universe
    • creative mode
    • blastfurnace
    • lightdrones
    • planetside teleporters
    That covers a decent range - modpacks and single mods, paks and straight assets.

    On another positive note, restarting the manager doesn't cause any issues. I tried with a mix like this:
    • some mods added and "installed"
    • some mods added but not yet installed
    • a bunch of mods dragged directly into the \mods dir while the manager was closed

    I'm sad, nothing broke >.>

    It seems to be a permissions problem for the mod manager as well. Windows has issues with certain folders, and those often include game folders. These permissions restrictions prevent the mod manager from writing any data without running it in admin mode. The only real fix for now is to install Starbound to a different folder.

    They're eventually going to be used to switch between mod installation and extra commands, such as deleting the mod:

    I had to re-code the way they were rendered/work and haven't added the functionality back in. 2.0.0a-r1 should have the previous version.

    It doesn't. :p That's hardcoded for now (the default value is, at any rate, you can change it just fine), but now that I've got most of the code to a point where it's easily changed, I'll be able to add features quickly.

    I hadn't thought about that. I'll be sure to add it in. Thanks!

    That's actually the "Mods Path" in the settings pane. It'll be getting a more descriptive name soon. That's the folder in which the mod manager stores the mods it unpackages.

    They shouldn't cause (many) problems, but v1.6.1 is actually now ahead of v2.0.0a.
    I've yet to add .pak support to v2, so assuming that's not the target of the "path" in the modinfo, it won't break anything.

    Yet. :p

    I've contacted the mod creator. It looks like it's an issue with missing headers in the .modinfo file

    the mod i made has the exact same .modinfo as another mod of the same version and i've changed the name and stuff but it says error with .modinfo

    Can you send me the modinfo you've edited? I'm thinking I missed something.

    You have the path set to ".assets"
    Not sure, but I think it should just be "."

    The .modinfo isn't valid JSON. The following line is the culprit:

    Code:
            "description" : "Adds...more pickaxes",
    In context:

    Code:
        "metadata" : {
            "diplayName" : "Mo' Pickaxes",
            "author" : "Gindew",
            "version" : "01.00",
            "description" : "Adds...more pickaxes",
        }
    The comma at the end of the line should be removed, as it's the last element in the block. http://jsonlint.com/ is a good website for validating JSON. It should work fine once that's fixed.
