Starbound, lost family members and my depression

Awesome story, and the bullying / depression side is very recognisable, as is personal loss. I'm also looking forward to the game for a thousand reasons, but escapism is one of the bigger ones. I know from experience that having clichés thrown at you usually does more harm than good, so I won't do that, but I wish I could do more for you than just post about it on some forum.

I wish you well, and if you ever need anything, don't hesitate to call upon the helping awesomeness of captain Pink Speedo!

This may sound slightly cheesy, but games can indeed help people in many ways, this being one of them. It helps stimulate the imagination, allows for some quality time, and the community can be a very inner-healing place, which is what I believe is happening right now, to all of us, actually.

Wow, would you look at that? Starbound is really powerful and can change people's lives for the better. I've never seen that in a game!

That is a very touching story, thanks for sharing! Best wishes to you and your mom. It saddens me to think about how many "non-gamers" will never understand or get to experience things like this. Video games are so much more than they may seem. Video games are the future!
