Starbound Lore

    I read books because they present worthwhile stories in their own right. You can't compare the level of writing in Starbound to that of a good book.

    Why would you want to, though? The writing and lore in Starbound is a fun diversion, a short story. You can't compare them to gigantic series like the Wheel of Time or the Forgotten Realms books. There are teams of people that work for long periods of time to produce those novels and trilogies and series, whereas there's probably one dedicated Lore person for Starbound.

    Of course the results will be different, because CF is producing a game, not a literary masterpiece.

    That being said, simply because Starbound's lore will not compare with War and Peace does not mean that Starbound's lore is not entertaining and interesting.

    They're totally different things, almost entirely different mediums. A book has a single narrative and a linear path. The lore in starbound is found in bits and pieces, non-sequentially, and is meant to enrich the universe of the game not lead you down a single path.

    Starbound's lead writter Raze is a published author (real books!!), so I think it's a little unfair to say that the writing isn't 'the level of writing' of a book. It's apples and oranges.

    It looks like there are only 7 more codexes since I've last updated this, and my guess would be they are just boss codexes? Did lore move somewhere, I saw comics or something? Are codexes dead?

    I think they're trying to figure out exactly what they want the lore to be, rather than releasing a few things here and there and potentially removing them later.

    AKA, write the entire story first, THEN release it in pieces. Don't release little pieces first without thinking how they fit into the main story.

    I don't believe any more lore has been added for a while now. Hopefully more codexes will come with future updates, when they arrive of course. :)

    Hi! So I know this Post is very old but I just found and read through it. While reading 'coming of age' I wondered if the young Floran could be Nuru. I think the codex was in the game before Nuru and maybe it's another floran, but that was just an idea that came to my mind (Because Nuru is the champion of the hunts and maybe that was her origin story or something). Im not shure, let me know what you think :)
