If you want to be technical you might want to say fire outside of an atmosphere because even the Earth's atmosphere is Space. Or Outer Space, I guess that works too.

so far i found a very strong flame-shotgun, one burst to the enemy will kill him, not because the bullets are strong, the flame effect deals around 40 damage per hit.
so...just cook them alive!
but jep...most guns are useless with the energy system

 

I simply said this because you want logic, so I used it. Again this Universe might have fire act differently allowing for such things to happen. Also at the end of the day it is a video game. do you expect everything to have physics to such a fine tip? How about this one, things like sand and gravel don't stay in squares and if you take away any block from under something else so that it is floating it should fall, even if it is not sand or gravel.

 

Most posts like this I disapprove of, since they only complain about mechanics, not suggesting a solution. This guy, however, has got it together. I believe we should actually give some of his ideas a spitting chance, and btw, it isn't a duplicate thread because of it, as I've seen several people complaining about... Just post in suggestions next time OP

 

Realism in Starbound? Because realism is totally the first thing on my mind in a pixelated sidescroller with teleporters, FTL ships that run on coal, laser guns that shoot sublight projectiles, and giant jelly monsters. [/sarcasm]

The tone of the replies in this thread are mostly tangential and unhelpful. Arguments are presented to the OP in a fashion that make clear discussion of the OP's views difficult. I don't understand a community that has this tone with regards to a genuine post. The redirects are helpful though, thanks for those to those of you who cared enough to help rather than smother the issue in conversation killing terms and nonsensical nitpickery. This topic is, after all, of interest to a wider group of people than some seem to perceive.

And seriously say what you will but at the end of the day this is a video game we are talking about. and one that doesn't give a damn about whether or not it is realistic, starbound may have game mechanics such as hunger and gravity and whatnot but they are just that. game mechanics, these features do not in any way mean that the developers are trying to make the game realistic. and if you are expecting it to be as such well you are going to be disappointed and you should look elsewhere for a game you like.

I'm not going to sit here and tell every one of you how foolish you're acting right now because why the hell would i need to point out something so obvious. if you have suggestions on how to "improve the game" well be my guest but that doesn't mean it's going to be used by the devs. because it is their game they are developing and we are not entitled to anything beyond what we were promised when we purchased their product. anything beyond that is just extra and we should be thankful for that.
